Ahhhh the good old Asian stereotype. It hindered me of what can be achieved back in high school to my freshman year of college.

What I come to learn is to accept it. Accept you are Asian and there is nothing you can do to change it. You are fucking awesome and own IT. If someone is giving you a bad day, fuck them you are better than them. Why should they be part of your life.

Remember the funniest ones. When some douche starts dropping jokes, nail your funnier ones and then the whole stereotype thing has no value and you come across as some funny guy and then just change the topic of conversation. (Source: I'm Indian)

Coming from an Asian..it really is easiest to just say fuck whoever is giving you trouble with them, I've only seen them as jokes

Your Car is a Honda Civic: So? They're quite reliable, many people have them. Not just Asians

F to F/M: Female body comes in all shapes and sizes, all races can have any size anything.

Edit: RICE!!! HOW COULD I FORGET ABOUT RICE?!?! We eat rice with everything. Just had bacon, eggs, and rice...That shits the best.

I also wonder. Maybe this is something to relate to.

I know Asians who are skinny, just like I am but I started working out and eating more to put on some fat aswel. Also my haircut is fairly Asian, didn't do something about that (yet) but it's also something you can consider. Don't know many more physical changed as far as clothes go for Asians, I guess that is just very variable across the globe.

Like /u/BJinandtonic said, break the stereotypes.

If they're trying to be funny without being offensive, not bad to play along. I wouldn't laugh though because if you don't like her humour, she'll just keep up the jokes. However if you play along well enough and get her to laugh, even better. Sometimes these jokes can be shit tests or even a defensive action for herself if she's unsure of you. She's saying negative things to convince herself she doesn't like you, but if you're good enough, you can change that. If it is offensive and actually racist, walk away...or just shut it down and move onto another topic, depending on how hot she is.

There is a stereotype that people with red hair have small penises as well. When someone made fun of my red haired friend for having a small dick he implied that they must have seen a ton of ginger dicks to be able to know they are smaller.

I usually just laugh about it and say something sarcastic.

Her: "Why are asians smart, especially in math?"

Me: "Oh you know, when I was 3 I already knew Calculus."

That's just me though, that's all I can come up with during a time like that so I just say it. I say this laughing or smiling so I don't offend someone. Saying it with a straight face just means you're offended. Trust me, some people are just ignorant and don't know much about asian culture.

As for breaking the stereotype, I don't think there are too many offensive stereotypes. Small penis joke is overdone and honestly I don't really care what people think because not everyone is going to see my penis anyways so why does it matter. Confidence goes a long way, I surprise myself all the time by not giving a fuck what people think and acting like I'm the man without being a douche. I usually accomplish this by assuming the girl likes me. (There are also some cringe moments where I found a girl really attractive and the conversation sucked but idgaf, you gotta make mistakes to learn)

In my opinion you want to embrace those stereotypes but at the same time escape the negative stereotypes of skinny and overly awkward asians. Nothing wrong with being a nerd and having a great body, hell you might even attract more girls. In my opinion the only negative stereotype is awkwardness of being raised by a family who doesn't show much emotions. I know many asian families don't say "I miss you" or "I love you" so break that and try not to be awkward to show emotions and go after what you want. Too many asians are socially awkward when you talk to them, that's the biggest thing to avoid.

Trust me, workout and look decent, get some decent size on you, and be confident. I'm kinda babbling on now so I don't even know if I made sense.

Just do your thing, be confident and own who you are. Regardless of who you are girls love it. I think because there is that stereotype about Asian guys, if you end up breaking away form that stereotype and show that to girls, they will really eat that shit up.

You say you shrug it off but it's certainly enough to linger in your mind and compel you to post to this subreddit, so there must be some degree of fixation on these situations.

The key is to not let it affect your frame or composure in any way. I actually love it when people start bringing up Asian stereotypes, regardless of malicious or humorous intent. In these cases I usually disarm it with humor.

When someone mentions the stereotype of eating dogs I just pretend to get mad and tell them: "It's a terrible misconception that Asians eat dogs all the time... We only eat them on special occasions."

Usually cracks them up whether they were serious or not and maintains your frame of not giving a fuck.

I don't view them as something that needs to be "dealt with" (i.e. I don't give a shit), but I do handle it. Just treat it like any other shit test. Common strategy is agree and amplify.

Who is stereotyping you? Asian women? Non-Asian women? Are you a guy? I'm assuming you are.

You can be sexy and masculine as an Asian man. If you don't like the stereotypes people throw onto you, break them. Dress well, get your hair cut, pack some muscle onto your frame, and walk around with your back shoulders back like you own the damn place. Talk to people and show them you do not fit the mold they are trying to force you into. I'm not particularly good looking but I am able to attract both Asian and non-Asian women with confidence and general self-care.

But honestly, some people just aren't into Asian guys. It's the same way you aren't into certain types of girls. Move on and find another hot chick who will love you in all your Asianness.

I actually try to use asian stereotypes to my own advantage. People expect you to be a certain way but you project yourself the opposite and come off extremely polarizing. People will find that attractive since it really surprises them.

I wouldn't care, you may have an easier time attracting asian girls and they are way cute. Definitely use that to your advantage
