Don't worry about the appearance of being desperate. Just don't be desperate and you won't appear that way.

How do you find a balance? Have other shit going on in your life so that you're focus in life isn't just on women. That way if a girl says "no", it doesn't impact your life in a huge way (if at all).

Being direct is assuming attraction. "Assuming attraction" mentality is focused on your mindset, your "way of life".

A needy guy is someone who is focused on the result (I MUST get THIS girl). Generally, it generates one-itis and anger when it fails.

The difference can be tricky on the field but, honestly, it's about mentality. A girl didn't answer to your invitation at a party ? Well, no problem, you just go to this party and meet other girls. A girl declined your date ? Well ok, we can still hang out with other friends like nothing happened and still get fun together.

There is nothing needy or desperate about being direct. Its all about the choice of words you use to express how you feel. If you were needy or desperate then you would be nagging her all the time about it. Express yourself so that she knows exactly what you want and leave it at that to see where the situation goes. One time is all it takes.

If you are afraid of looking desperate you've already failed, because only losers think like "Oh i'll prolly look desperate if I say this or that". And women are not attracted to losers. At least the ones you chose to date.

By being direct, you make yourself vulnerable to rejection, thereby displaying your lack of neediness. In other words, outcome independence.
