No motherfucker in the history of ever grew or learnt a lesson from being victorious.
As a majority we've all gotten soft, and built a terribly toxic relationship with pain, adversity, mistakes and failure.
Life is fucking hard, you will fall flat on your face, have your heart broken, miss out on an opportunity more times than you will get what you want.
If we always criticise ourselves over every shortcoming or fuck up we make then how in the flying fuck will we EVER learn to love ourself? How will we be attractive and attracted to ourselves (which is the core component of being magnetic).
Every single day you sell yourself to the world. You determine your own value based on how you carry yourself. Decide whether you're gonna be high value and in large demand or low value and in large supply.
But it really does start with your attitude

That’s false lmfao you can learn literally everything from victories just to name a few (your strengths, areas that need work “they are as strong as your strengths”, how to succeed, how to keep succeeding “you’re winning so keep doing what you’re doing while making adjustments when needed”)...... that’s just off the top of my head.
[–]sammyshortpants 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Victories mean nothing if you never fail.
[–]igotaccountsfordayz1 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
That logic is entirely wrong....... so by your logic Rocky Marciano is trash? He never lost once and is considered the greatest boxer ever...... you don’t have to fail to learn.... you can learn everything that failure teaches you simply by having a open mind. If someone loses every single time and never wins they have no record of succeeding. Just cause you can’t better yourself just by winning does not mean that others can’t.
A win is always better than a loss...... and a loss does nothing for your victories...... #assbackwardslogic

A person can only experience the bitter taste of defeat, and get broken down so many times before it becomes too much and they digress into lesser versions of their former more confident self.
Years of being under a surgical steel blade always hoping this will be the last time. Years of being alone and hoping you won’t be. Then feeling foolish to have ever felt any hope when its another year passed.
IMO, as humans we are nothing more than what the experiences of our lives shape us and make us see things from our individual scenarios, perspectives, viewpoints. Life is about trying to be better and learn from them, but as we are creatures with emotions it is not rational to think we can “just deal with”’. Emotions and feelings aren’t things we can put in a box and chuck off a cliff. They change us.

It feels like the chances of transcending this downward spiral get lower and lower each time failure is reinforced. “Controlling attitude and how you deal with it” might also mean just doing something else with your life, before you spend all of it chasing your own tail.

I agree with both you and OP. Also, I’m sending you hugs and kisses. You’re not alone. XO

You definitely can deal with it, it's all about your attitude and mindset towards it, self love is a core thing to have, you might have to look into yourself and accept things, know yourself, and be yourself, rejection is inevitable, because no one person is the same, your value stand nonetheless, when you learn to not need anything from people to be happy, and always try, failure will come sometimes, but experience makes us better always.

Walk a year in my shoes. I’m sorry, but being alone as an inpatient there is no well of self-sufficiency or self-love to draw from. Your body is damaged. Physical pain. The loneliness. I’m 34. This has been since birth. So I didn’t just become this way. It was a steady decline over the course of years. It’s not logical to expect someone to be tough and independent and not need anyone for the duration of their whole adult life. Intimate relationships aside, there are times in your life where you can’t just deal with it...If a loved one of yours dies, you want someone to be there and support you or do you thrive on being told to “deal with it” before being left alone to do handle crippling, personal crisises?
[–]itsthewhiteguy 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
First off I'm sorry for assuming your situation, I wish you all the best, It may be our differences and circumstances in life that has lead us to have different aspects of opinion on this, I think the post was refering to another aspect of this but what you're going through, I cant understand, because I've not been there myself, but I hope some things change to help you along your difficult journey.
[–]Minephucked 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Thank you. I appreciate that and agree entirely as was the intention I was trying to convey in my original post. It’s crazy to think we are all the same species but we do not all have the same experiences and that is what essentially builds us up or breaks us down in life. If you have the strength, have had the support, and you have the confidence to ride out a dark storm independently. I don’t question it. More power to you. Maybe you had such a fulfilling childhood that you felt confident and secure whilst maturing into your years as an adult. But, i’m a product of a broken home as well. I was a happy-go-lucky indefatigable optimist for so long, but i’m human. I had an IV cathedar in my chest until my mid 20’s. I feel like Dr. Frankenstein’s monster in just about every waking moment. I’ll never b able to take my shirt off at the beach as I look like a failed science experiment.

Jesus man! This hurt my soul because its soo true.
I find myself becoming less empathetic. I started my 20's off with wanderlust thinking to myself "It will happen. It has to happen. I am in shape, decent looking, and good future prospects."
Now, in my 30's I have resigned myself to believing that I may never meet a woman despite the significant progress I have made in life and on myself. I have women interested in me and the moment I pursue their interest wanes. It's bizarre. I have no explanation for it. Based on who and what I am, and the way I look meeting women should not be this difficult.
Advice?
[–]Minephucked 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I dunno...it seems pretentious of me to give advice. I’d do okay, if I had women interested in me, problem is I don’t.
Maybe I could, but i feel like unless you are a universally attractive guy amongst women, to even try to talk to someone in their daily life errands is just intrusive and bothersome. Especially during a covid worldwide pandemic.
Everyone eats with their eyes. If a butterfly lands on your hand, you gaze in awe. If a spider does the same, you will likely swat the crap out of it with every intention of ending its life.

Honestly r/taoism is pretty useless. Some is good but relatively little of it has to actually do with taoism. r/stoicism is good

Taoism is about non action
[–]NjalBorgeirsson 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What you're talking about is wu wei and thats a mediocre translation, IMO. The idea of taoism here is more to be at peace with what is happening in the world, view it in a neutral way and take the action that is best in the situation, with inaction being a viable form of action.
Generally, there seems to be an emphasis on peace, calm and tranquility but that does not mean one should not act.
