Last night I sat with my wing at a crowded bar on a stool next to the mat where waitresses pick up and drop off drinks. Because you're not supposed to order drinks from that part of the bar (it's meant for waitresses), 90% of the people who came to order there were cute girls. My wing joked that I was like a bear, sitting in a river waiting for the fish to jump up into my mouth. visual aid in case you don't know what I'm talking about

Immediately I realized my wing was on to something, and I started doing the following...

Every time a girl came up to order a drink, I'd open her. Most of the time I would say 'I'm talking to every cute girl who orders a drink here, hi my name's asimplegame'. This worked incredibly well! I was able to very quickly hook multiple sets, and ended up going home with a couple of girls I met doing this.

As a cold approach tactic 'bear fishing' has a lot of things going for it:

  1. You're already locked in (they're ordering next to your spot at the bar!).
  2. It doesn't come off as needy, they know they can always just get their drink and leave (you're sitting down, they're standing).
  3. There's a built in time constraint.
  4. Girls come to you.

Next time you're out at a bar cold approaching, and notice an empty bar stool next to the area where waitresses pick up / drop off drinks, sit down and give bear fishing a try! It's a lot of fun.
