Beginner here. Need some help in learning how to start an interesting conversation in groups.

I have ADHD too! I'm really looking forward to hearing replies on this question. It really sucks, you can start out really enthusiastic at first, but then later as the night goes on I find I entirely lose motivation and like my emotions become weird and I can't make facial expressions or react to social situations properly. Do you get anything like this, it is really frustrating and would love help to overcome this; for maintaining enthusiasm.

If I'm in a group, I usually will go one of two ways.

Either I start a conversation with one member of the group about a broad subject. Once it's going well enough, I'll invite someone in the group to present their opinion on it. Which usually snowballs into the whole group participating.

If I'm somewhere that a slow approach isn't practical, then I like to just ask a question to the whole group that lets them share their stories. That way people recognize you as having started it but you don't actually do much work at all other than thinking up an interesting question

My ADHD has been the best thing for my game... If you want to start an interesting conversation, ask them ALL a question. Sometimes if you give them a story, followed by asking for their opinions it'll get them all to give you a reply. If some one doesn't speak, you ask them "What about you, what do you think?" This is also a very easy way of isolating some one in their friend group so you can talk to them one on one, and later isolate her entirely.

I find that when a random thought comes to my head, I try to link it to the topic at hand and talk about it more. Also relating, and justifying your questions helps. As far as openers, I never open a group, I open individuals, who then introduce me to the group... Works much better, way more powerful.

Say whatever is on your mind, stop filtering yourself. If you aren't in a social mood it will be stupid at first, then you'll get progressively more interesting.

In the end the point is entertaining yourself, not trying to impress other people. Some people will hate you when you do this, others will love you.
