Usually asking to hang out is an art. If a girl wants to she will suggest another day. If she doesn’t I don’t ask again for at least another week or two.

Being direct probably does harm your chances. Given you’re on a campus, if you don’t feel confident going for an instant date could just strike up convo. Say hello and initiate conversation when you see them and you have a better chance

Practice doing a more indirect approach with the overall frame being you thought she looked good but weren’t sure about her. You thought she looked good enough to say hi and then she won you over a little so you asked her out.

It should take like 10-15 min you. Wanna tell a sub or interesting story and ask her a few questions and r make a statement or two about her. The conversation has to be fun and she has to want it to keep going but you leave and end it first if you have no intention of an instant date.

When you walk up say your cute and ask for her number your relying like 80-90% on you looks and she has no connection with you or anything. She’s basically giving you a point for confidence to cold approach but she’s gotta really be attracted for her to want you or your confidence has to be radiating while you approach.
