Here's the situation I had to deal with today. I was at a Starbucks with a girl friend, ordered my latte, and then as I get it, a really cute HB7 barista arrives for her shift and puts on her apron, and goes to take care of the register and the customers. There's a big ass line of customers waiting.

Now, I completely understand the whole "every opportunity you don't take is a loss" and so I'm thinking I have nothing to lose and I should just throw myself at it. There was a point in time where the line had 0 people in it and she was just standing there, but I'm not sure what to do about it. Basically, I have at most 30-60 seconds before the next customer arrives, so I can't have any sort of conversation with her without that being uncomfortable for everybody. The best I can do is go up there, tell her that I saw her, though she was cute and wanted her number so we could catch up later for.. coffee? :) Based on everything I read in theory, attempting a # close under 30 seconds is almost pointless.

Vets, what would you have done in my situation? Are some causes just lost no matter what?
