If you're already in a relationship why do you want to approach X at all? Just keep a friendly smile and nod that's it.

I think if you are dating around, you should at least keep in contact with the other person so that you can explore your options as well as being fair for her and you that you are clear with what and her are expecting put of the interactions. By all means, of you are dating, having fun, etc. have fun. If you are looking for a relationship that has meaning, you would have to approach things more seriously. Broaden your spectrum and keep contact with people who you are interested in. Don't burn bridges.

Just go up to that woman, apologize if you hurt her feelings in terms of not contacting her, and try again. You may not need to apologize, but she may have viewed things differently so keep that in mind. For me, I always communicate and like it when a person can do the same thing so that everyone is on the same page.

Then I would probably let her vent some or forgive me. But eventually express interest in hanging out or dating again.
