So you're there watching basketball, ask people do they follow it. No? Go broader to all sports. Still no? Ask what they do in general, where we're they coming from that day

Hey broham, I was in your shoes when I was younger. I was afraid of rejection or what my friends thought me. You need to strengthen your mind through your daily life and always be willing to be in uncomfortable situations. It’s seems vague but I can 100% promise you it works.
For me, I started running and working out every morning before work and the day I feel like shit I still go because I’m refusing to let the walls I built in my head keep me from doing something I don’t want to do or I’m afraid what others will think.
It’s a journey and you’ll hit lows during it, but you feel like a damn beast if you keep pushing.
Hang in there dude, believe in yourself and you’ll have everything you need to get what you want.
Note: Don’t become a dbag, keep being a gentlemen throughout the journey.

Thanks for the advice man, I appreciate it. I have been going to the gym 6 days a week for about 2 months now while keeping a pretty good diet. Confidence has always been hard to come by for me but I’m working on it.

Just be patient with the process and keep your mindset healthy/positive and the confidence will come naturally.

Start with a compliment or a joke. You feel better and more comfortable if you can make people smile or feel good about themselves. And the talk will go more smoothly.
And you can gain confidence by learning from your failures and successes. If I may quote one of the greatest persons I know:
“A thing bigger than our failure is our regret. The regret to look back and realise you wasted an opportunity.” ~ consistent-count-890

Yeah I definitely get what you’re saying, it’s always just about initiating things for me. It seems like once people get to know me they like me but I never really give them that opportunity unless they initiate it.

I'd say work on changing your mindset first. -You said the first time was kind of depressing, it wasn't you made progress. -The second time you said you felt like a huge pussy. You're moving out of your comfort zone and talked to more people. Even if you didn't initiate you did more than last time.
It's easy to expect huge progress, especially with social media but it's not like that. Be proud of the little steps. You're gonna make mistakes and that's just part of growing. It's easy to overanalyze because of trauma, cancel culture, all kinds of things. Learn to appreciate the little wins and you'll fair much better.

Fear is natural dude. 50000 years ago you could be killed by a competing mate or ostracized from all the females for saying the wrong thing which is why approach anxiety is strong within you. Helped keep your ancestors alive so its a natural instinct. That being said you're very much moving in the right direction by just going out, period. Here's what might help with your confidence - dress very well and keep yourself well groomed all the time. When I'm out and about I just walk up and talk to them and just blurt out whatever comes to mind and I'm direct about me finding them attractive. Been rejected plenty but I've also had sex with women I would otherwise have thought wouldn't let me. Situational observations are always good. Keep the tone light and funny and if they give you go away vibes then oblige.

I feel like that you are scared of embrassment. I wanna ask you do you remember something from your past where you felt awkvard? Yep prob not. Approach this the same way. Just approach and if it doesnt workout who cares. Its better to feel embrassment than feel like you fell right ?

If you’re not attractive then yeah they don’t want you.

You should be enjoying your approaches and have fun regardless of the attention of females. If you are radiating with positive and confident energy, girls are more eager to open up and validate you, so your approach and opener shall be smooth whatever it would be as she will be cooperating. If you approach unsure, scared, sad, you will be shut down before you open your mouth.
