I met up with some work colleagues yesterday. And haven’t seen them for around 8 months because of Covid. So was a general grab a coffee have a catch up.

There is one brunette girl in my office block I know of and she is a 10/10 and she also brought along a dog she had recently got. Trouble is, nobody was interested in her and everyone was playing with the dogs. That’s where I saw my chance to talk with her while everyone else was distracted by the dogs.

We were all sat on park benches but nobody was sat on her bench because they were all too afraid to do so. I literally just parked myself down right next to her and said “god damn _____, the dog is getting more attention that you today” No word of a lie, she couldn’t stop laughing for a solid minute. She finally regained composure and I said “I think everyone fancies you, I just wanted to make them jealous”. She responded “And why are you here?” and I said “I saw a cute girl looking bored and wanted to make her day”.

This continued, we moaned about covid and then about vaccines and missing another summer. And she said the magic words “Yes, I’m single”. For a good 20 minutes we spoke. Everyone else had now left and it was just us left talking in the park. I was astonished how well the conversation went. I basically just did very little talking and let her speak. And kept really good eye contact. Her eyes were too damn beautiful not to look.

She was laughing the whole time. So I decided to use a bit of light touch every time she laughed. I think she enjoyed it because she then started to shuffle closer on the bench and complained about being cold. I said “any closer you should just try and sit on my lap”. She then got really close and just rested her head on my shoulder and said “that’s better I already feel warmer”. Her dog was also a really good thing to have because the lead kept getting tangled in my legs and I had to keep touching her hands with mine to pas the lead back.

Finally got to the point where I was wrapping it up and so handed her my phone and we exchanged numbers. We already organised another meet up next week and she is really excited to see me.

Truth is; approach everyone no matter what. I kind of used this as my first big chance after lockdown and had a f&ck it mentality. I’m a guy that gets major anxiety, and generally keep my head down but today it all just flowed so well.

In summary, just approach everyone. No matter what they look like or if you are scared. You can do it. And if the conversation starts to slow just start asking more open questions. Feel so good.
