BACKSTORY

I'm currently a freshman in college, and I'm starting to really get more comfortable with casual pickup/flirtation. At a party a few weeks back, I ended up making out with a random girl, but didn't end up getting her number/name by the time her roomie dragged her away to walk home. I was bummed.

LASTNIGHT

So after a long night of studying, I decided to get some food and watch something on Netflix since my roomie was still out. The only food place open at 4AM is a sketchy 7 Eleven 5 minutes from my dorm so I put on my coat and headed over. While trying to pick up what snack I wanted to eat then ultimately regret that night, I noticed a cute and familiar face over in the back corner. I adjusted my underwear, pulled up my pants, and walked over. It begins.

I decided to just open by referencing the party we met at: "This is quite a bit different than the last time we met." She looked at me confused for a second then responded with "OHH DiDN'T WE MEET AT <redacted>'S PARTY?" I told her "Yup! And just so I don't make the same mistake as last night, I'm gonna ask for your name and number right now!" She laughed, probably remembering our interaction that night then we exchanged information as we walked to check out. I forgot to get food.

We were talking for a few minutes outside, and it became obvious that I could run with this right now so I asked her if she had ever been to the park behind campus at 4AM (it's super lovely). She said she hadn't, but would love to so I took her by the arm and began to lead her there. Before I got ahead of myself, I threw my arm around her, which was met with a very positive reaction. After that, I knew I would probably bring her home so I sent my roomie a text asking what time he would be back because I'm with a girl, he responded "I"m crashing on my friend's floor tonight since I'm at <dorm super far from ours>, so the room's all your's buddy." Game on.

By this point, I was super in the zone so we sat down on a bench with a great view of the river then almost instantly began making out. After about 15-20 minutes of that I asked if she wanted to come hangout in my room. She agreed.

We walked back, I signed her into my dorm, she sat on my bed. I never ended up turning on the movie.

WHAT I LEARNED

  • There are fewer bad places for pickup than I originally thought.

  • A little confidence can go a long way.

  • Graveyard shift 7 Eleven employees are insanely miserable.

  • My roomie is a real homie.

I've been a long time lurker, but I finally decided that I have something post-worthy as a way of thanking you guys for all the knowledge you share!
