Nothing wrong with it if you want to.

I wouldn't do it just because of the three second rule though.

That's just to get new people to actually approach. It's not meant to be an extreme absolute.

If its a private party then no.

Social game is different from nightclub game. You're not doing cold approach pickup anymore, you're doing warm approach because you're at a party with people you know, and people that know the people you know, etc. You have a right to be there and talk to people. In fact it would be kind of weird if you went and then didn't talk to people.

Go to the party, have fun at the party, talk to people.

Absolutely talk to girls, but in a more relaxed way because simply by virtue of the fact that you're at a private social party, the girls will generally be more receptive and friendly. They can't just be a massive bitch like they could in a nightclub because they don't want to risk lowering their social standing among their extended peer group... This concern should also be the thing that prevents you from going full PUA beastmode and burning it to the ground, lest you get a reputation as a weird socially oblivious pickup retard spam approaching all the girls.

The fact that you asked this question tells me that you really do need to focus on raising your social skills, social awareness and emotional intelligence. And so does every other idiot in this thread who told you that its okay to spam approach at a private party.

The 3 second rule is only if you're not doing anything. Talking to someone else is fine, you spot somebody and either want to go immediately or catch them later. Remember, the rules are more like guidelines.

Talk to everyone and get to know them all, just as if you're coming in to introduce yourself at the party. Don't have any goal other than to be social as possible. Gauge which girls are more interested in you then go from there

Honestly you can do either or, I like to find something interesting about the girl usually something they are wearing or something they are doing that peaks my interest or turns me on and I go talk to them.

In this situation it's really up to you.

Depends on the size of the party. If it's small and private, treat it like a single set, talk to everyone, make the girls wonder who you're really interest in. They might give IOIs to raise above the noise, or even become jealous of each other.
