I would like to add, but there's too much. What I'd really like to do is take away a few points that I disagree with, because they're geared towards more short term relationships.
I'll explain...
Don’t make your relationship the primary focus.
I have been with her for 14 years, it is impossible to separate our life together and everything we plan must consider another human being. Even when the other isn't included, we still must consider the other person. Everything else in your list before this still works though. I don't sacrifice any part of who I am for her, except for who I'm allowed to have relations with besides her. If she says "No, not her" then I listen.
Do not complain, whine or act like you’re in a bad mood and need attention.
I disagree with this, because using your partner for support should not be a concern. If you can't confide in her like you can confide in yourself, then you shouldn't be with her long term.
Be less invested than her.
No, be exactly as invested as her, at all times. Demand equal investment as well. Don't tolerate or settle for less and don't give more than you're getting.
But if you give less than you're getting, then you're a fuckin asshole and don't deserve to share that person's life. Go be alone, and quit being a parasite.
If this isn't your belief, then please change this one thing. Everything else you've said is relatable....but that one thing doesn't fit into all the other ideals you listed.
A confident man shouldn't feel insecure being just as invested, and a confident man wouldn't invest more than his partner.

I think I can offer a less extreme version of that. Yes you should be just as invested as your partner. But even during a relationship you should keep a girl chasing after you just a little.
Edit: Keyword, JUST A LITTLE.

I think that falls under "predictability and boringness are enemies of attraction", right?
At least, that's what I see keeps my women fascinated with me. I am so, so very invested in women once I decide they deserve a place in my life. I'm extremely indulgent of them, too. I'll give everything, but how do i maintain the balance like that?
I do it by being ruthless in my tolerances or intolerances. That's a separate thing though, ya know? Those are consequences of another's action. Before the consequent action is necessary though, for all intents and purposes, I'm a pushover.
None of my relationships are lopsided, they're not skewed, but I maintain a strong male dominance of....moving forward. I always advance the relationship and we never stagnate. I keep women invested, but I'm also invested.
They know that I'm willing to divest instantly if they violate my personal needs. And I'm just so fuckin great that I don't violate theirs, because why would I, if I'm getting what I want?
[–]NoRiceForP 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah, that's exactly right.

I have maintained a 14yr relationship, while maintaining a year long relationship with another woman. The sentiment shared by both women is that I make each day fun.
Still, with my longest relationship, she tells me on a regular basis that I make things exciting, and I think that's just what keeps things working.
I've had a few other shorter relationships that had to end for various reasons, but were all my choices.
The takeaway is I don't change who I am, I'm the same with each woman I'm in a relationship with and it isn't the woman that decided how I act. I just always act the same with each partner.
Edit: I don't keep them chasing, I keep them wanting more. And if that's your original message, I agree.

Absolutely nonsense. Be equally invested in her? Confide in her with all your problems? Dude this is BS
[–]Axon_Axoff01 16 points17 points18 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
/s?
[–]The_Big_Mang 17 points18 points19 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Lol, my reaction as well. I hope you're being satirical, /u/Davisco10101, otherwise you're purporting the type of masculinity that yields insensitive, dumb assholes instead of caring leaders.
[–]Davisco10101 8 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link
Lol. There's an undertone of satire in there but stuff's bs tho
[–]NunoHimself 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Sounds like the typical pua stuff to demonstrate high value. Making an effort to be less attached doesn't make you high value, it does quite the opposite. If you decided to be with her, than actually be with her, don't keep making these "high value" stuff.
[–]Davisco10101-1 point 8 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
You're missing the point.. Being "less attached" doesn't mean being a complete douche bag. Let me put it this way. 58% 42% . Equal investment that is 50-50 ain't gonna work. Trust me
[–]ImJustSo 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
No, it's bullshit in a new relationship, because it's impossible to tell who's invested. Coming from someone that's been keeping a woman smiling for 14 years while still shoving my dick into other women, I can tell you that being equally invested is absolutely necessary.
You can think and do whatever the fuck you want, you can ignore me or ridicule me, I don't care.
I am capable of keeping multiple women satisfied with the experience of me. And I do this because I equally invest in each woman what they invest in me. And ya know what? I really like putting my dick into a woman and then taking it out and putting it into another woman and then both of them being happy afterwards.
So....do you man. I'll just keep doing what works for me, and no hard feelings alright? Have fun.

Read my other comment. You taking this shît way too personal.

A woman will be committed to a relationship when she feels her partner could potentially walk out on her at the drop of a hat. She'll be giving it her all to "catch" them. Then of they eventually do, it's the beginning of the end

Then of they eventually do, it's the beginning of the end
So....how does this narrative reconcile marriage and divorce statistics? Also, sup with the misogyny?
[–]purplemashpotato 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes that is the root cause of vast number of divorces
[–]zbf 60 points61 points62 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Tldr Be confident.
[–]Hnikud 22 points23 points24 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Actually no, it means to be in peace with yourself, to not let outside factors disturbe you.
[–]zbf 17 points18 points19 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
So be confident. Got it
[–]Hnikud 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
No, no confidence is one part of inner peace, and the other part is self-steem.
[–]FriedLizard 13 points14 points15 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Dude clearly has no interest in hearing what you're saying so don't waste your breath.
[–]Hnikud 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
If we assumed that all the time would this sub even exist?
[–]FriedLizard 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Don't assume it all the time, but learn to read the room.
[+]Nudelwalker -7 points-6 points-5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Right. So beeing confident it is.
[–]mitsigan 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Don't be more invested than her.
FTFY, because in a healthy relationship the more you invest you profit.
[–]HaitianFire 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yo, this is a great summary based on everything I've learned and accepted.
[–]TobyFR4 points 8 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
It's compiled over the past half year of what I've learned. Felt like it was completed enough to share. Glad you liked it!
[–]CantAbsolveMyself 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Honestly though. With all this, what is the point in being in a relationship? If I am going to be an oak or a rock, it just sounds like a lot of giving and receiving nothing in return. So why stay with someone? What do they give you?
[–]NunoHimself 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'd add "Be good in bed", because lets accept it, it's important.

Actually, it should be giving fucks about a few essential things.

Thanks for sharing this. I really needed to hear it and get back on track in my relationship

As someone with a good experience in relationships, this is one of the best lists I ever seen on the topic.
[–]TheBossManGoalie -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That about covers it all
