What about a threshold low enough to indicate a genuine, but throwaway account, like 50 karma for example?
A lot of the guys in the scenario I suggested above, are posting for the first time here and literally made the account specifically for their post here. I, myself, and a few other mods throughout Seddit's history also started this way.
I've mentioned this in other threads, but the fact is, there's a lot of stuff you guys never see; the stuff you guys see is like the tip of a shit iceberg.
And the team does appreciate all the flagging you guys do, which pretty much seems to help us pick up near all of the rest, even if there's sometimes a delay.
It's not ideal, but it's not an ideal world. If we do see any tweaks that could bring the success rate up without also adding false positives, we'll certainly look at implementing them.

Cool, makes sense. My last suggestion then, as I’ve also seen complaints recently about newbie questions like “what to respond to texts”, example:

I would be such an affected account, for example. I created this throwaway earlier this week (before the OP's post), as I've been postponing for a long time to take action and improve my life. A global "X karma to post" rule would simply not allow me to ask personal questions, as I created this throwaway specifically for seddit.
It would devolve to the chicken-and-egg problem or "how to I get karma to post, if I need to have posted to get any karma?"
I would vouch for a threshold, but it doesn't have to be black-and-white. Instantiate a threshold for, e.g., new accounts posting guides or pirated material. You could also introduce two levels of karma, e.g.,:
There's unfortunately no perfect threshold. You either risk allowing a fraction of spam accounts to post and manually delete their posts or cutting off a genuine group of people who wish to help themselves but cannot post without exposing themselves first to other subreddits.

I dont think so, having a more active moderating team however I can get behind. this sort of topic is something not many want connected to their main accounts (hence why I have an account just for the dating and relationship stuff)

Yeah, but your dedicated account has more than 500 karma which is way more than enough to suggest a genuine account.
These spam accounts are usually less than 10 days old with 1 karma.
More active moderating would be great, but probably unrealistic unless it’s AI based moderating.
