Don't know why nobody is mentioning this, but 90% of a girls work is physical. Dressing presentably: whatever that might be for your personality. Taking care of yourself: good hygiene, trimmed hair and the whole shebang. And then if you like a guy, hold eye contact with him for longer than a sec. Also put yourself in positions for guys to shoot their shot. Guys will typically not approach you if you're always out with friends. But if you walk alone you'll have anyone remotely interested in you and has the courage hit on you.

This, just from today i walked by a university and saw a really cute girl. We both look at each other for longer than a second (long enough that my neck had to turn for about 60 degree bc i was walking past her). I thought she was really cute and would go in to ask for her info but she was with 2 other male friends. If she was alone or mb was with a female friend then i think i’d have had give it a shot.
[–]Mmmyeah21 14 points15 points16 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Those male friends won’t do shit if you walked up as if you were the most Alpha alpha there ever was with confidence and charisma with humility and grace. 9/10 dudes with girls that aren’t their boyfriends will Simp and get insecure when someone who has the ballz to walk up walks up. Even if you don’t have the nads, they don’t know that ;) but if it looks like you do they’ll think it. And a girl will love it if you approached her un-phased by her male friends because to her that’s a sign that you are so comfortable with yourself and your technique. Fire away. But as always be friendly and respectful to them too. A great tip I use is to make them feel just as included in the conversation as her. But don’t lose focus on her. Make eye contact with her the most but acknowledge the men as well. Cheers

Easier said than done
[–]StaizeH -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
100% this! I’d add as a technique saying to the fellows “excuse me gentlemen, do either of you have the pleasure of calling the beautiful lady your woman?” If either says yes, pay them a compliment and move on. If they say no, you’ll probably have impressed her a bit and you’ll likely have an easier time getting to know her.

“excuse me gentlemen, do either of you have the pleasure of calling the beautiful lady your woman?”
That's a terrible line that telegraphs what you want, validates her and diminishes the fact you had the balls to approach her in spite of her two companions.
I've approached girls with guys around and whenever one of them is the actual boyfriend he usually brings this up and I just go with the usual "thought you were her brother man" and then leave.

Seriously I’m the most socially awkward a girl could get, but I’m attractive and know how to reciprocate eye contact. That’s pretty much all I have to do.

That, and putting yourself in positions where it's easy to make a move on you such as going out alone.

Eh, to be honest I don't know, I only recently moved out so I can finally go out without having to ask my parents, so I'm still new to this. I usually don't have many problems, I go out on dates, meet new people but I've done that like twice so I'm like a newbie at this.
You described how far you've been getting just fine. :)
2
My shyness, probably. I don't talk a lot during first encounters (with everyone, not only dates), I need time to open up and not feel like I'm a weirdo.
There's an easy principle here that you could try focusing on: meeting a new person can be like a new discovery.
You could try opening up if you think you're closed off, but honestly, listening is often an underrated skill because people get inside their heads and start forgetting about the person there interacting with.
You don't need to have interest in things to say if that happens to be a worry. The main thing is listening to what someone has said and following up with a question to get them to elaborate on something they said.
Like if someone is new in town you can ask them about where they were from and how they feel about the new place versus the old place, etc.
But the easy thing is that it all starts from listening. I guess the hard part with this would be pushing your focus away from worrying about whatever you worry about in your head, and focusing on the people around you.

Thrice a week at the gym
He is my personal trainer
We talk during our workout sessions a lot....
The problem here is that he's a personal trainer and is probably expected to maintain a certain degree a professionalism.
Similar to a hired gun, a term for anyone who has to be friendly as part of their job. Even if he is going beyond the job description so to speak, he may face repercussions if he acts on anything while you're a client.
Which is to say that you might be able to see about him, but you could be compromising his job.

If you ever chat up the people at the front desk of the gym, it can be a pretty easy place to meet people, because everybody's passing by on their way in.
Are things open up where you are? If so you might be able to look up public events on Facebook. Meetups and such. So you could increase your exposure to new people. Within reason, of course.

I'm a girl and honestly the thing that helped me the most was practice.
I used to be super shy and awkward, but at 18, I decided I would put myself out there and be confident enough to be the girl to make the first move on a guy. I was in Europe at the time, so I went to pubs and bars and met people. Of course, sometimes my flirting was awkward, but hey, it's fine! Over time, I figured out what worked and what didn't for me, and now I always approach if I find someone attractive. I've become too impatient to "wait for the guy to notice me."
[–]smellyelvis69 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I apologise... I have to take them when I see them. I know all about that. I can talk the talk with a woman in chat or text , even on the phone I can be confident and comfortable.. but I'm just rubbish when I'm with someone .. I am so jumpy, can come off as a bit of a weirdo or something and I don't take social ques and I will get so upset at myself later on in the night .. it's hard and I feel for you.
[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
hey I completely agree. although I do admit, guys tend to have to do all the work or have a rougher time, that doesn't mean its only them who want tips :) I would like to see content that is a bit more universal since I'm very shy but need a little confidence boost and direction!

ITT: guys who refer to themselves as men while calling the women females. Fucking charmers, the lot of you.
[–]OmegaClifton 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Idk when that became a thing, but it's definitely something I notice more of now. Not sure what the reason is, but I bet it ain't a good thing.
[–]This0neTime23 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hmmm. I'll try to help you out since everyone is just saying it's easy because you're a girl. Not true, you can't just exist and have people flock to you lol
I'm shy too, but it helps to be a little daring. Smile with some mischief in your eyes, add in some teasing, be cheerful and bubbly and naturally react. Expressiveness seems to work really well.
Show a real curiosity and desire to learn about what they're interested in and see if you can add your own opinions or take on things. Don't force anything, and smile often but genuinely. Get a bit excited about things, and maybe challenge him to do something - silly, slightly risky, to hug you even if you can pull it off

This is absolutely not true. Women are not on "easy mode." They have a different set of emotional needs than boys. Jesus Fucking Christ I am tired of seeing shitty advice get upvoted in this subreddit.

Here's my no.1 tip for meeting guys in bars...
If there are a bunch of guys at a standing table and you like the look of one or more of them, find a gap in the table, go over to that space with a girlfriend and ask if you can put your drinks down. 99 times out of 100 the guys will say yes and they will start chatting to you.
The logic behind this is that when I go out with a group of my friends we eventually get bored of just hanging out with the guys so when women join our table it's quite exciting. I've had women do this a few times and it's a great way for them to make the first move. You kind of need to do this with a girlfriend and don't try to engage the guys immediately, just talk to your friend and you will find the guys at the table will start interacting with you. Of course I've only seen this work with tables that you have to stand at. Not sure if you could pull this off at a seated table!
[–]stc207 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It’s a good tip but also this goes to show how different dating and meeting people is for guys vs for women.
From a female perspective, my first impression of asking someone if you can put your drinks on their table is ‘that sounds like a really great way to get yourself roofied’
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Lmao right?! That was my first impression like... I’m not putting my drinks down ANYWHERE lolol

3 steps: 1. Look pretty, 2. Lower your standards, 3. Drink the shame away
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Coming from a guy, one who tends to be shy and rarely ever shoots his shot, make a move. Any guy would love a girl, with good hygiene and well dressed, to be direct with him. I’ve always hated the fact that guys are expected to make the first move. If a girl came up to me, introduced herself and started a conversation, it would make my day. If she brushes her fingers against my hand or something, it’s gonna be all I think about. Be direct. Make the first move.

[–]StanMarsh02 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No worries, will say though as a bloke if a woman asked me for a drink I'd be onto that quick (assuming I twig that I'm being hit on...normally I don't!)
[–]Cool-Cause-8114 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There is no “league”. I’ve seen guys with girls that don’t look compatible at all and vice versa. You can’t tell what a guy finds attractive based on his looks. Although I will say as a guy it should be easier to approach us. Look at it like this. Approach him and ask him to join you for a drink. If he’s not interested he’ll let you know and you won’t have to worry about it anymore. On the other hand, if he is interested, you would have shot your shot and it would have landed.
[–]revente -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ok so if he really is out of your league then its a lost cause most likely. But go meet 100 guys out of your league, 1 may be up for a relationship.
[–]bigboibeaner69 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
i'd say dress nice, smell good, pretty much have good hygiene and you can get tons of guys to look at you. then personality-wise just be chill, dont be like one of those basic girls have some sorta spunk to you, not to much tho cause that comes off weird. but talk to the guy after you exchange socials. and tbh you kinda have a clue when to escalate with a guy, i do with girls at least. so good luck

Those are real basic rules for both men and women. A connection will come naturally, but overthinking and avoiding conversations that can grow your connection will destroy your chances.
[–]JaguarVisible959 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If he’s attracted to you.. the best option is to make him feel comfortable with being himself around you and then you got him
[–]chronicallybeautiful 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ask him “how’d you get so sexy?” “how’d you get so manly?” While touching his bicep. If he has nice eyes- tell him! If he smells good- tell him. Men want to feel wanted too, make him feel wanted or special

Confidence and approaching thing here works just as well for women, but they have a bit more leeway. As always ask the hunter (women who are good at game) but here is some interesting stuff from my experience that might help:
1) just go for it, you don't know what he is attracted to (applies to everyone):
I remember when I went up to a couple of my friends about how hot they thought a girl in their class was, they showed me her IG I thought meh. There was also a time when I was returning from a party and had got this girls number, I talked to a friend about how I thought she was cute and he thought meh. Point: everyone has their own taste
2) Confidence helps but shyness is cute. I find this to be true for me, but I've noticed a similar pattern with what my friends seem to find attractive. The confident girls that extroverted are fun to banter with and have s fun vibe, but the slightly shy girls that blush when you approach them are cute, both are attractive, know yourself and pick your style.
3) make it easy for them. I remember when I was in college, there was this girl in one of my clubs that I liked. And I know for a fact she liked me. She was the shy type I described above. She would always linger around, but when I approached her she went super quiet and gave me nothing to work with. Sometimes she would just get nervous and get out of there (I know how this sounds but she was def into me). It was my last semester, and by the time she grew comfortable/confident around me I graduated and left.
Point is if he approaches/talks to you, give him something to work with and at least just stay there. No need to make things harder for him.

Workout, eat healthy, and dress nicely in a way that you like. This will make it more likely that high quality men initiate conversations with you and hit on you.
For the mental/social part, become the best version of yourself emotionally and mentally. Also, ask other women who have success in getting what you want. If you want to learn to sell cars you ask a car salesperson. As a man I don’t really know what works on me except maybe some good banter and eye rolling.

Try just being a friend. You can find a good guy if you can help him as a friend. If your just a hole he sticks his D in then you wont have his respect or admiration. Youd be just a wet hole. Be more. Be a friend that cares. Thats about the best tip anyone can give a woman. We dont like the cutzie bs. Its sad and better reserved for beta men. Alpha men like equals not dotting pie eyed princesses.
[–]GreyhawkJones 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Of course you can. Just ask him. Alphas might seem serious but the best part os they dont mince words. If you ask he will state exactly where you stand with him. Dont disregard your intuition either. Not all alphas are the same. I consider myself one because i am a straight shooter. I also am considerate to others feelings as well so if im asked if im serious about someone ill tell them straight out of they are or arent. Just make sure that he doesnt marginalize your feelings. If he takes life seriously then he should take you seriously as well. Good luck and blessings in all you do. :)
