You tell her a time when is good for you. Whether it's true or not, the image is that your time is more valuable than hers. If she's actually not available, then try for another time/day. But you never want to appear that you're bend over to accommodate her schedule.

Further on down the line, past 10+ dates and beginning an actual relationship, it's more acceptable to actually work out times that work for both of you.

I usually ask someone, "What's your schedule like?" Then you talk about your own schedule and figure out when you're both free. It also makes more conversation and you know what's going on in her life.

That's certainly a way to get a date and time sorted out but a suave method to go about it is to propose actual situations on her.

"What are you doing for lunch? want to go and grab something with me?" "Let's go get a coffee sometime ...how about now?/after work?/whatever?" "Tomorrow, I'll take you to the ___."

Now put into your own words and chuck in whatever cheeky other things you'd say.

It's said to never suggest a time because that's open ended and doesn't come off as too fun, makes it feel like a bit of a business meeting. This is supposed to be spontaneous and fun. You make things happen, you're interested in her and she's being wooed (haha). It's simply smooth.

Get her schedule, #3. Don't make it sound like you are giving up your schedule, do this by telling her your busy days. So:

I'm busy Tues and Thurs, what does your week look like?

Then let her rattle off when she is free, and pick a day that works.

You are seriously overthinking and probably out-gaming girls if you think #3 is "old school" or "beta".... not enough experience to judge that, I'd say.

Check this thread on texting an assertion and more importantly, the most-upvoted comment, which is from a girl:

As a girl, I love those kinds of direct invites.

Saying "Free tomorrow?" means I have to follow up with 5 texts asking where we are going, who with, what time to be there, and who is driving, and what we will be doing. I'd rather just say "no."

Go with #1 (or #2 if you prefer) style. Girls are typically in-decisive when it comes to this stuff, give them one or two days to work with

This exact interaction has happened over and over:

me: "Let's go out this week and do ____, how's thursday night?"

her: either a) "sounds great! see you then" or b) "I can't do thursday, how about or night instead?" or c) she's not interested and just says she's busy all next week bla bla bla

She either accepts or offers you her schedule without you even asking, a good sign. From there you can just pick the day that fits you best, and you're all set.

Here's what you do: ask her to throw out some times that work for her...Reject the first one and say your busy...on the second time she suggests...(pause, and appear to give it some thought, act like you are weighing it versus something else)...."you know what? That should work, I'll see you then..." Done. That's how I roll, and it usually works out well.
