Hey Seddit, I want your opinion on this:

Last weekend I spotted a cute girl in a bar at a different city. I swear I had seen her before, but couldn't remember where. To my surprise, this noon I stumble upon her at the university's cafeteria.

I quickly approach her and ask her if she was at bar X this weekend, says yes, I say "what a coincidence, I swore I knew you but didn't know how", and then leave with a "well see you around".

Just before I ejected, she did this awkward "uhmm..." that you do when you expect the other person to say something. I believe she was wondering why didn't I introduce myself, but I held the urge to do so, and thought it could be a good exercise. She didn't tell me her name either.

Okay, so what's your opinion on neither introducing yourself nor asking for her name? Remember that I'll probably see her again some day soon, I didn't need to close. Actually the point of this was NOT to close on purpose.

Note: This is not a "I heed help plz" post, in fact, she might have a bf, might be a lesbian, she turned from HB9 at the bar to HB7 in the sunlight, who cares. (If you remember my last posts, these days I'm aiming at increasing my circle and building social proof, not getting girls) I want your opinion on the "non-introduction" opener for those situations where not closing might actually be a better idea than closing.

Edit: Okay, so this seems to have been a mistake. Actually the error was not approaching the first time even though I was drunk and didn't really know what to do in that moment.

However if I somehow manage to turn the situation around, I'll post an update. The best option seems to be audiostatic82's: just be polite and see her reaction. Worst case scenario: nothing happens, so I lost nothing.
