Science has weighed in on this.

Here's relationship scientist Eli Finkel on the delusion of romantic self-insight.

In a series of studies, Finkel and his students demonstrated that one's self-reported preferences in a romantic partner do not predict attraction after face-to-face contact. Regardless of what you claim to prefer, attraction seems to emerge organically from face-to-face interactions. Good looks remained the number one predictor of attraction, not the prospective romantic partner's "fit" to your reported preferences.

These findings have implications for online dating, specifically w.r.t the uselessness of dating profiles. In a separate New Yorker article, Finkel argues that the best online dating platform for finding compatibility is Tinder because it cuts through the crap and facilitates more face-to-face interaction.

I personally don't have any types. However, it's usually the more outgoing, more deviant girls that I'm usually attracted to, ones that are a little bit less "good girl" and a little bit more "I'll rub your dick under the table". The bad bitches, if you will.

From my experience the type of person you attract is a reflection of the state you are. So sad people attract sad people, broken, broke, and good happy confident people attract their reflection. Or should anyway. I also have found, a great personality will have you hooked like a fish despite them being alittle eh.

There propably are certain types one gets attracted to.

I just don't think you can put it in a box, and say I prefer an super-intelligent girl.

Might be some biological aspects that makes you prefer a certain looking/smelling woman in order to produce the best offspring.

Often times I'd get that feeling, but I think that when this happens two things happen: I put her on a pedestal or I get so horny I give my best shot at her. Although I learned either she's your type or not, I would still try.

It's a lot easier to tell yourself you have high intellectual standards than to stick to them. I don't know you, but the majority of people do this the easier way, not the harder way.

Depends. I've known people to stifle any relationship that doesn't meet their checklist. So for them, it works out exactly that way.

But for most people, love is not really a decision. It's definitely based on something, but not exactly what you think you want.
