I do very little of texting. I try to build just a tiny bit of comfort through texting and then instantly ask her out.
Key here is that you do enough work before you guys even start texting. This means you do most of the work while being in person together, before you exchange numbers and start texting. If you have done enough work, you can most likely consider this number as "solid". If you did not, chances are she won't go out with you or will flake on you. No texting skills in the world will change this.

I avoid exchanging too many information through text and rather keep these conversations for the time we actually meet in person again. Once I feel the base line of comfort is established again, I immediately ask her out. This way I had very rare cases any girl said "no" to a date or flaked.

What you want to go for is, to use it as functional as possible. So rather for flirting, you should use it for meetings. That's why I would always ask her directly "can I have your number, so we can meet up again some time?".
English isn't my native language, so you should ask her something that sounds more smooth.

Its different, when she's into texting, but then she should approach it. Usually this leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, cause she either needs love really heavy, or uses it to entertain herself.

With texting, I found myself to minimize risks.

Texting is a tool, not an end all be all. Texting should always have a purpose.

A. Meeting/Confirming. B. Flirting. Sparse exchanges never more that 1/1. C. Sexting.

If you do not have a point park your thumbs.

Yeah I'm with Ryan. Go as far as you can in person. The texting is a low-bandwidth way to communicate.
