Not long ago I had a birthday party of a friend to attend to. I had originally had other plans for the night, but didn't realize I screwed everything up in my calendar and canceled said plans to go to this party. To be honest, I wasn't really looking forward to being in a large group, but on my way to the venue I rocked some awesome music and did my best to get in state, knowing there would be quite a few good looking women there.

I arrive somewhat early misjudging traffic, but a few other people are there. I only know three of them and that's all I'd know the entire night. Luckily, the guest of honor herself, a damn near HB10, considers me one of her closest friends, as I do her, which was pretty much all the social proof I needed.

I grabbed a drink at the bar and headed outside to have a smoke. My friend, HB10, joins me. She chats with another friend of hers that was already out there, and immediately an HB8 walks out on to the patio as well, and asks if I've an extra smoke. I oblige, and ask her name.

"I'm [HB8], what's your name?"

"Nice to meet you HB8, I'm [Just]. So what's your story? You can go ahead and start at birth and work your way on up to the present for me."

She laughs and tells me she designs clothing and jewelry for a living, that she just moved to my city a few months ago, and so far, loves it. I start asking her about designing clothes, and she shows me pictures of a dress she recently made for a friend. I launch in to a story about how I tried to sew a button back on to a jacket recently that ended in frustration, heartache, and a little blood. She laughs throughout the entire thing.

"You know, I could totally teach you how to sew, and make your own clothes!"

"Seriously? That'd be awesome! I'm useless when it comes to that kind of thing, but I would love to learn."

"Yeah totally! Here, let me give you my card!"

She pulls out her business card, which only has her email on it.

"Listen, Just, it was awesome meeting you, but I've got to get going. Email me soon?"

"Not a chance," I told her.

She looked a bit dejected and gave me big 'ole puppy dog eyes.

"I don't do emails. I hate sitting in front of my computer, for the most part. You're going to give me your phone number and we're going to have a sewing date soon."

She flashes a huge smile, grabs a pen from her purse, and scribbles her number down.

"Ok, you better call me soon, Just."

"I will darling, you take care tonight, c'mere."

I give her a huge hug, pull back for a moment, and plant a kiss on her. She pulls back for a moment, hugs me tightly, smiles, and goes on her way.

More people are arriving for the party, so I just start introducing myself to everyone. It was easy to open any person there since I didn't know them, and we were all there for the same reason.

"Hey, who are you and why don't I know you? And how to you know HB10?"

Conversation tended to flow from there naturally. I made it a point to introduce myself to every single person there, guy, girl, couple, didn't matter. I wanted everyone to know me.

I'm going to omit #-closing the second girl, an HB7, as there was nothing remarkable about it, to be honest. I'll edit it in if there's any outcry for it.

A bit later I notice an HB9 hanging around, only talking to a couple people there that she already knew. She didn't seem shy or anything, however. I walk up to her and open her the same way I opened everyone else that night.

"Hey, who are you and why don't I know you? And how to you know HB10?"

"I'm HB9, and I met HB10 a few weeks ago at [event]"

"Awesome, she told me about that, sounds like it was fun. So what's up with you? Not interested in making friends tonight? You've been hanging out in this corner the whole time!"

"Haha, well no one has come and talked to me yet!"

"Well here I am, and we're going to be best friends now!"

She cracks up and asks if I smoke, and upon confirmation, says we should go outside and have one. I grab her hand and lead her out.

We take a seat on the patio and chat a bit. I find out she's a go-go dancer, and not originally from the U.S. Applying a bit of kino here and there for good measure. Shortly after we got outside, two guys come out for a smoke as well, and I immediately turn my attention away from her and strike up a conversation with them. They both have accents so I find out where they're from and what they're doing here. We banter back and forth a bit, and one of them asks me, while pointing at HB9,

"So is that your girlfriend?"

"No, actually, she's my wife."

"Why haven't you got rings then mate?"

HB9 beams a smile and gets up from her chair. She walks over to me and sits right down in my lap. She starts telling the two guys that she's not from this country and needed her green card, so we got married. She goes on about how it was convenience at first, but we've fallen madly in love now. After she finishes saying that, she turns her head towards me and smiles. I don't hesitate in going right in for the kiss. I pull back a few moments later, and she smiles at me.

Conversation with the two foreigners goes on for a bit, and they go inside. HB9 is still sitting on my lap. I look at her and tell her

"Hey, if we're married, I should probably have your phone number. I mean it's silly to have a wife if I can't even call you, let alone spend time with you."

She smiles, I hand her my phone, and she puts her number in it. She grabs her phone and demands that we become friends on Facebook. I oblige and we head back inside.

We were there for perhaps another hour or so until the party wound down. She was leaving with her friend who brought her there, and I was headed home to the opposite side of town. Before I left I found her, put my hands on her waist and told her

"Listen dear, it was lovely meeting and marrying you tonight. We're going to have to have our honeymoon soon, so start thinking of where you want to go."

She smiles and shouts out "Ooh Bali! We're going to Bali!"

"Perfect answer," I tell her, "You tell me when works for you and I'll book the flights ASAP, ok? For now, I've got to get home though, we'll definitely be seeing each other soon."

I give her a huge hug and kiss her again. We say goodbyes and I take off. As I'm leaving, I see her waiting on the corner for her friend to bring the car around. I roll down the window and ask to make sure she doesn't need a ride. She tells me her friend is right around the corner, and not to worry. She waves and says "Goodbye hubby! I miss you already!"

I tell her I miss her too, and head home. Not a bad night.
