Trying to reform from being a blue pill beta bucks orbiter. I can approach. Sometimes I have a hard time keeping the conversation going. Sometimes like today, no problems. She did seem kind of depressed or having a bad day. Can't help but think I blew it somewhere but I always used too. Reading up on this stuff and trying to change and take it all in. Here's what happened today in a bookstore.

Me and my niece went to a bookstore today. They had some books outside and I went to look at them. There was an attractive woman there looking as well. I smiled and said "Hi", she returned the greeting and went inside. I thought to myself "I'll have to find her in there and make some conversation".

This is a discount bookstore and they have a pretty good audio book section so I head over there. Low and behold she is there looking at the audiobooks as well. I do the old "We have to quit meeting like this they are starting to talk" line. We started talking of audiobooks, commutes, favorite genres and authors and such.

Then I asked for her name.

She said "Oh, is this where you try to pick me up?" The old me would have denied it and gotten flustered but I didn't miss a beat. I said "Yes, I'd like to pick you up. You're quite attractive and I would like to take you out." She replied "You don't want anything to do with me". I said "I can decide that for myself."

We kept talking about things, my niece came over I made the introductions niece then wanders off. The target then asked my name again (OUCH!!!) (Yes, I told her) I told her what I had going on real soon and she should come out for it. (It's a personal appearance I do) I told her my name and to look me up on Facebook. Didn't get the number, but didn't walk away butt hurt either.

TL:DR Approached and hit on hot babe. Shot down. Walked away with no butt hurt, but no number either.
