A little backstory on this one. I like to frequent a website/app called "TFLN" (Texts From Last Night). It's just a compilation of text messages that people submit that are hilarious.

One of the top texts of all time reads; "I walked into a party and someone yelled out "Dibs!"

I think this is hilarious and I wanted to try it out. I got my chance last night.

College is ending and everybody is having graduation parties and end of school parties. I was invited to one last night. I entered the party and started opening sets and generally just having a great time.

About an hour and a half, two hours into the party. I've relatively introduced myself to everybody at this party now and gotten some chitchat in with everyone. I'm talking to sets by the door because I really wanted to try this out "Dibs!" as an opener.

Always talk to everybody at a party, helps with AA and comfortability issues

This blonde 7.5 walks in through the door. I make direct eye contact with the 7.5, I smile, she returns the favor. I point at her and yell out "Dibs!"

I was smiling and laughing, If I didn't, that would be so creepy.

She smiles and laughs. Bingo. I walk up and introduce myself.

"Hi, my name's AsianAway, I haven't met you yet, what's your name?" Handshake

I tossed in "I haven't met you yet" as a DHV, I'm insinuating that I've already met everyone at this party, which I have, and pretty much making her think why haven't I talked to this guy yet?

"My name's HB7.5. Haha, What was that all about?" Laughs

"What, dibs? I was exercising my right to dibs, you do know what they are right?"

Smiles, place hand on her arm, eye contact

"Haha noooo, why don't you explain to me what it is?"

"Alright, but first, we're going to take a shot."

Holds out hand, smile, eye contact, CONFIDENCE. She takes it, lead her to the alcohol

I talked to her for a few more minutes after taking shots and joked and tease and made a reference to HIMYM (How I Met Your Mother) and then told her I was on a time constraint and I'm going to talk to my friends.

I made this reference because A) We had a mutual interest in HIMYM B)I can go back to this reference later on in the party. I also placed a time constraint in there to make it seem that I wouldn't be as available.

Throughout the night, she'd come over to me and keep referencing HIMYM, more chitchat, escalation, kino, ya di ya di ya.

Isolated her later on in the night, Got the kiss-close, and got the number-close.

Got a date set on sunday. I had fun. Round two tonight!

I realize that if this hadn't have gone right, I would have looked like the biggest creep in the entire world. I didn't care though, I had fun with it and she saw that I was joking around and not being a serious creep. I escalated fairly quickly because I was having fun and being confident (And having a tad big of alcohol in you doesn't hurt, I know I know, it's better to not drink to be on your game, but it helps me relax)
