You know how they say if you make an approach, you've already won? I won today. I was hanging out with some friends after class and we got on the subject of flirting. Someone dared one of the guys to go talk to a girl across the way; naturally, he chickened out. So I said I would do it. Their faces as I rose to walk over to her were priceless.

I figured I'd open with my favorite line: "Hi there." We exchanged pleasantries and I told her, "My friends dared me to come talk to you, so here I am," (or something to that effect) and sat next to her on the bench.

She was pleasant enough. Had a good fashion sense, which I pointed out. We got along pretty well. I felt the conversation winding down after a bit, so I figured it was time for me to get back to my friends. I figured there wasn't anything there with her, but on a whim I asked for number anyway.

She had a boyfriend. Oh well. I made my exit and returned to my friends.

I may not have done very well, but if practice makes perfect, then I'm one step closer to perfection.
