To start it off its been a while since I've gone out solo. Tried to focus on the last few months meeting cool people and friends/meetups etc. So lately I've just end up going out with friends.
Anyway rewind to last night. A lot of friends out of town or didn't want to go out. I took a power nap and woke up around 10 PM. Decided fuck it, there's only so many Saturdays in life, cleaned up a bit, and pushed myself to the bars. I enter the most popular bar in my area and all of a sudden I find myself thinking I should just go home. Nah bro, kill that thought. I grab a drink at the bar and chat up this dude to my left. He pretty chill and he's with a pretty cool group of two other dudes as well. Anyway we shoot the shit for a bit and they wanna talk to some girls. So I take the lead and off we go.
Approach 1 - So we had four dudes, I'm making a note here that thats a bit too many to all start approaching at once. Anyway, one of the dudes with me keeps saying something about thinking about a good opener. Bro we all know you don't need a special opener.
I see a group of three girls, walk up and say "Hey how you doing tonight?" and it just spirals up from there. Unfortunately, like I said it was difficult positioning wise to get everyone talking. One of dudes and me do some push pull/kino but the other two get kind of pushed out a bit. So I spot these two cute asian girls and I grab one of the other guys who's not talking and I tell him to come with.
Approach 2 - So there's two asian girls and they're holding these large cocktails so I go up with my buddy and make some comments on the cocktails. I kino hard and tease a bit. So here's where it gets interesting. One of the girls starts telling me to buy the other girl a drink. Like in a 'you need to buy her a drink' kind of way. And I'm just thinking fuck no (I don't usually buy girls drinks that I just met). Anyway I deflect it by saying something witty but she pushes on until it gets to the point where I make it clear I ain't buying her a drink. Unfortunately that causes things to spiral down.
So I've thought about this a lot. I think I would be okay with certain situations where I buy a girl a drink cause I want to not cause they're asking. I think if I were to revisit this situation, I would offer some sort of playful game where if she wins I'll buy her a drink (and if she loses I'll buy her a drink?). Also, while doing that I would bring the girl with me (not her demanding friend) to get some isolation and go from there.
Anyway, it was a great night I had fun, lived, and learned where the alternative would've been staying at home killing time. Met some cool people that I might go out with again.
You know it's interesting, a long time ago someone was telling me "Going out solo is the most miserable thing to do, and you should make friends and its always beter to go out with them". Here's my response to that. Its important to make friends but going out solo can be one of the most enjoyable things you do as long as you put yourself out there, be positive, and just have fun.
TLDR - dragged myself out solo, experience and learned shit, turned a boring Saturday night into a lively one.
