Went for a meal with family friends the other day, wouldn't have gone if it could be avoided. Not people I actually want to see as we have little in common - although they are not bad people.

Normally I'm kinda cold, disinterested and come across more beta than usual because I just don't want to be there. Decided this was a good time to test the stuff I've been reading about. My main focus was projecting that I am confident and confortable - the opposite of previous encounters.

Minded my body language, when I had something to say I said it loudly and clearly (and reapeated more loudly if missed). Didn't lean in, made them lean to me (still feel kindof an asshole doing this :/). Listened intently but non-pathetically and asked good questions, talked about my passions passionately, tried not to worry if my opinions weren't popular, though still somewhat guarded as we are just very different people.

By golly it worked! Hottish girl that previously was just about polite was more than friendly and even a little kino (has BF, not interested anyway), passive-aggressive father was respectful and even deferential at times.

Most important thing was I had fun! Seddit, I am reborn! Lessons learned: passion, confidence, minding yourself and being calm but aware can make even a dreaded night enjoyable.

Best part was acting pretty alpha lead to some some casual flirting (small jokes, solid eye contact, big smiles) with two HB8 waitresses who would normally ignore me. Made me hungry for the next field trip ;)
