This is perhaps not strictly a "field report" as it wasn't planned at all but would still love feedback.
Last night whilst waiting for a tube (and deep in my own thoughts) a girl who I had met a couple of years ago suddenly appeared and said hi. (Fight Y/N etc.)
We made small talk about what we were doing (I was wearing a DJ, she had a strange bag) but my train came around the corner fairly soon afterwards.
I wanted to ask for her number but I couldn't form any decent way of saying it.. all I could think about was something like "durp, can I have I have your phone number" instead of something like "Hey, we should should catch up properly", so I ended up not asking and we both left.
In hindsight it would have been great as there was a built-in time constraint, she had blushed a bit and even looked a bit disappointed when I didn't make an SOI, but I was totally not expecting us to meet. Also, I think it was less about nerves associated with asking for her number per se, but more that I would be expressing an SOI by doing so. Being able to take command here would have been a great signal too.
Any ideas for situations like this? Would learning some kinda stock phrases like the above help, at least to begin with? Or would getting over my approach anxiety in general solve this as a side-effect? As for the girl itself, I can probably find her on Facebook but that seems way too beta.
EDIT: seddit is amazing. Thanks. Please don't concentrate too much on the Facebook comment; that was just a glib ending. I will probably not look her up and am not in love with her or anything stupid.
