So last night, in an effort to come home earlier, I head out earlier. I left my apartment at 11:30 so the night was just starting (more or less). Keep in mind, the last time I went out solo, I didn't make it until 2AM and there was a major line out front so these things go strong until closing (4AM).

My look: not that I think look is important at all, I just want to mention that this night I started to tie my hair back and groom my facial hair so I look a bit like Patrick Shwayze from Steel Dawn meets turban-less, and beard-trimmed Sikh who's topically relevant due to the recent shootings at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin.

I walk in and my RAS is scanning the entire area for cute chicks, of which there are many.

A common word of advice to anyone going in solo is to never hesitate, and approach immediately once you enter the bar. This is a healthy piece of advice that I agree with for the most part, but so far, I haven't been doing that. I guess I don't mind being alone standing in a crowd of people actively engaged in conversations. I have my inner game to thank for that, because at the end of the day it doesn't really matter.

I scope the area out, and despite what I just wrote above, I kept having Darth Sidious' words playing at the back of my head "Do not hesitate. Show no mercy", but I didn't let myself get psyched out.

This guy comes out of nowhere who accidentally bumps into me, and apologizes. I tell him it's "fine" and he starts giving me this ";)" look. He starts asking me where I'm from, and that I have a very "interesting look". I am getting weird vibes from him, and not that I dislike gays (I've worked with them everyday for a quarter of my life), I just did not want to waste any time talking to males. I start talking to one of the girls that he is with. I comment on a necklace she is wearing of a bike, and tell her that it better be a fixed-gear bike (since we are in Williamsburg). She didn't understand so she didn't bite, and they continued to talk amongst each other - the girls that is, the guy was still positioned towards me. I walked away and look for a new set, but when I turn back I see this faggish guy make out with both of the girls at the same time.

I was partially surprised, but moved on.

I chatted with a couple of other girls about various nonsense, but girls in groups are a bit tough (tougher than girls with guys in groups - because they don't want to seem "slutty" in front of their friends, and there's always the element of jealousy and judgment). I addressed each girl in the group. The first one I addressed was the alpha and the one I spent most time talking to, even though her friend was a lot more receptive. I think this is due to fear. I was drawn into the alpha female's energy and afraid to step into her territory by talking to the beta female who was interested. However, I was attracted to the alpha a lot more so I just kept at it. Either way, they went their own way and as did I as the set fizzled out.

With each subsequent set, I felt the momentum piling on. I felt it in my chest. Just this feeling of excitement that I rarely feel anymore. This excitement that I used to feel when I would get a late-night text from that girl I was into in freshman year of college, which promised a make out and possibility of sex. Just that uncertainty, that standing position on the precipice of boundless possibility which necessarily includes utter failure as well as success beyond your wildest imagination.

I go into the dance floor. Dance floors are hard for me. I'm not a dancer, I don't know how to just start dancing with someone, and I need to be able to use my voice and look at them eye-to-eye. There was a girl in the back of the dance floor who I immediately opened. She was pretty fucking hot. About 5'11", thin, blonde, hazel eyes, and from Moscow. I squared up with her and made direct eye contact and talked to her while she kept giggling and gasping at the strange things I was saying. I made the beta move of asking her to dance (I don't know how to start dancing with girls, so I asked instead of pulled her) and she said "maybe after I have more drinks". I told her to come outside so we can hear each other, so I grabbed her hand and she complied.

Leading is key - it is fucking key. You can't have a static interaction with a girl in one geometric coordinate in space regardless of how much time you spent there. The phrase "time flies" is true, it fucking flies and our psychology does not account for how much time passes. The human tendency in regards to time is to sit down, not expend energy, and not die. We are lazy. You can spend 2 hours with a girl sitting down and discussing everything, but it's not as salient as bringing her along for an adventure through geometric space and multiple areas of venues or multiple venues altogether. The brain likes to be stimulated, so that is what you must do if you are to stand out. You must fight the human tendency to sit down and be lazy - you must stay vigilant.

I bring her outside, and we continue talking. I feel like I am being too static, so I remember what Julien said about constantly moving. I grab her hand and bring her further out into the outdoor area. At one point, she bumps into her friends, at which I think to myself "FUCK - game over", but her friends are cool and only ask her for a cigarette light. I noticed her friend was wearing a necklace similar to that of that girl wearing that bike necklace earlier in the night, definitely the same designer, so I tell her this. She says it's a way for everyone to be "hipster" - yeah, I know. She doesn't stick around, so I am grateful for that. When you meet the friends of the girl in your set, you should introduce yourself and maybe have a very quick little chat but never stick around - it should be obvious that you are only interested in the girl. There's no deception here. Being direct is key.

I bring her back to the dance floor, and lead her into the center of the dance floor. I start dancing with her (which I can only hope is good), but she wasn't up for it. I pull one of my favorite moves, which is lifting her up by the waist. This is hyper-risky because they can really freak out, but it is elemental in leading them and creating your own world away from everyone else. Who else does that? No one. It's your own thing and she is just visiting the wild, wild world of you. She yells a bit at first, but it turns to giggling and smiles as she states "you are crazy" in a coy manner.

I get closer to her, and I wrap my arms around her waist bringing her closer to me. She isn't being very receptive, so I'm thinking "fuck it, I'll just go for the make-out anyway" so I go for it. She turns her cheek, and there that goes. She says we're going too fast, but I'm not here to get her number and meet her for drinks - so I let her go back to her friends and I go my own way.

I go back to the main bar room, and walk around for a bit. I make a few flawed approaches that were DOA, but continue anyway. This short girl immediately walks into my path, and I immediately comment on her lip ring. We start talking, and she is being very receptive. I tell her to come outside so we can hear each other. She tells me she has to tell her friends - I am wary of this, because anytime "friends" are involved, you are always down for a risk that is not in your favor. Girls care way too much for their friends' approval, which I guess makes sense so they don't get raped by some stranger, but (I admit ignorance on the exact statistics of this) straight-up stranger rape in a safe city, and a safe part of the city such as Williamsburg, seems rather unlikely. As far as I know, the vast majority of American rapes are committed by friends or boyfriends (actually, the vast majority of American rapes are committed by males on males in prison - but that is a statistic the public refuses to care about).

Either way, I tell her to find me after. She says "No wait, it'll only take two seconds" so I say "I'll be here for one second, go". She comes back promptly, and we go outside to talk. She's cute but not really my type at all. She seems rather young. She has multiple piercings, and looks like one of those pseudo-punk girls that would carry backpacks stitched up with patches of punk bands in high school. We have a chat, but I eventually let her go. I see her again later in the night, and just rustle her hair like I would to a little sister.

It was nearing 2AM, so I called it a night. I came home, and went to bed. I look forward to going out again.
