I went out today to look for Christmas presents at the mall and a few other places. While I was at the mall, I walked past this one cute girl sitting on a bench but then backed myself out of approaching. Walked around a bit more and didn’t see too many girls my age or anything I wanted to buy. I left after a short while.

I went to a clothing store shortly after because I did not find anything at the mall. I see this stunning brunette woman, definitely upper 20’s, looking at phone cases. Did not approach due again to AA :(

I thought, what the hell, I have to say hi to one cute girl. So after I bought something at that clothing store, I decided to look around at a local grocery store nearby. Oh..my..god.. the amount of hot chicks and milfs at this place was unreal. So I see this one very fine woman shopping, probably mid to late 30’s, but didn’t say anything. Finally, I see this one cute girl, probably around 30 or so and I thought we made eye contact for a second. So here’s how exactly what I said when I went up to her:

Me: “ what beer would you buy for your guy friends if he didn’t give you a specific brand name?” (I know, stupid question, but we were in the alcohol section)

Her: “ Well are you over 21 first?”

Me: “Yes! do I look way younger?” (I’m 22, but to many people I look younger)

Her: “I just had to ask, ya know?”

Her: “I mean everyone has specific tastes so I’m not really sure what you like.”

Me: “ I don’t drink too often so I’m just kinda wondering what tastes good tbh.”

Her: recommends a couple of beers

Her: “was that it?” smiles

Me: “yeah, have a good day!”

she walks away

I still have trouble with directly telling a girl, “ I just had to come up and talk to you, you’re absolutely gorgeous.” My game is so bad that I think this cover conversation is protecting my ego. I’m deathly afraid of displaying romantic attraction in public. Any tips on how I could improve conversation? Also, is it harder to date older women when you’re in your early 20s? I saw so many hot 30 something year old women and I personally think they’re into the rugged look more than my boy look.
