The key to long conversations is by being a great listener. Since you're already not much of a talker, it's perfect.

Get them talking about what they could talk about for hours. Their dreams, interests, fantasies, binges...

Throw in your own experiences, relating to them deeper.

Recipe for success.

You're seeking something which is so undesputably AWESOME to say, that you have to deliver it with passion and excitement. Like, 'You've just won the fucking lottery, lucky you' and not just that, you would need the big cheque to feel justified presenting it in that way.

The thing is, unless you're in that very specific situation, you have to believe that you are worth presenting with that kind of 'grandeur'. You have to talk about whatever, as if it is exciting; you have to talk like you actually want to be listened to.

When you can make anything sound awesome, you have the freedom of many, many, many, endless amount of things to say. The thing that's missing is that you limit that to 'I can only say the things that I deem good enough' and it's a very, very high bar if you need to present a million pound cheque to feel like you've got enough justification to say it in an enticing way.

Again, it's not 'difficult'; you just have to speak like you actually want to be listened to.

For this reason, there are routines/scripts/gambits that you can use during conversations. You won't need them as you gain experience, but they are a great help in the beginning.

If you run out of things to say, ask questions (but not excessively). This will extend your conversations as well as show the other person that you are interested to hear from them, which in turn will make them more inclined to hold a longer conversation with you. Depending on their answers, you can continue the conversation even further. Just don’t talk about things that are redundant to each other so you don’t run around in circles.

Tell them you’re not a great conversationalist and you’re trying to improve. That’s a great conversation starter.

I am from India too and I have cold approached a bit in India too. So girls have told me they like their job and it doesn't pay much, favorite cafes and so on. All this when I Immediately met them. You need to have a list of topics and feel completely comfortable talking to strangers.

Well if you're putting enough efforts and still not sustaining it, she's probably not interested! Otherwise it's usually easier, she'll ask you questions every you give a bit of space after some generic random questions.
