Right, jist of the story if very straightforward. The company that I work for has been involved in negotiations with another company. A woman who works for that company and I have been flirting quite a bit, I have her cell phone number, she has mine, friendly text messages and like. I do not know if she is single and have, for the sake of professionalism & the negotiations, made no inquiries into her personal life. It has been very innocent.

As it were I had decided that I was going to ask her out the moment we met and had resolved to send flowers to her work with a note of some kind. My boss, coworkers, friends, and other Redditors seem to think this is indirect, way too dramatic/serious, or... cowardly? I'm confused. I don't have a problem asking her out if this is some kind of social faux pas.
