In short, it’s about staying in the conversation as long as possible, not just a "hit and run".

Start with a simple question that will only take 2-3 seconds: "Excuse me, is XYZ (a bus station) that way? ... Okay, thanks." Repeat this process, and after a while, you’ll notice it starts to feel easy, even boring. That’s when you know you’re ready for the next step.

This time it takes a bit longer: "excuse me, is the XYZ-that way? I want to go to XYZ-shop/mall.... ok, thanks". ...

Next time, even longer: "Excuse me, is XYZ in that direction?" [point to the opposite way] "Oh, really? Someone else told me it was there... Alright, thanks!"

This way, you'll reach the point where you can hold a one-minute conversation.

"Excuse me, is XYZ that way? So... it's straight ahead and then to the left! (insert a deliberate mistake). Oh, it's actually to the right? I want to go to XYZ-shop because I'll meet my friend who is an accountant.... you also look like an accountant. [she say she is a cashier for example] Not an accountant? But you have long fingers, white chemise.... but I have a friend who told me about her ex that she is a cashier like you and he said .... [insert a short funny/interesting story]..."

As you see, at this point, you're making jokes and telling stories, but remember, you started with just a brief 2-3 second question.

Some guys say it’s easy and skip stages, others take longer at each stage. Just try it and see what works for you.. If you can’t ask a two‑second question… well, that’s another story, and there are other things to do. It depends on which level you are.

Once you know what to say for 2-3 minutes, everything become easier and you can start using some seduction concepts. Otherwise, it’s too early, it doesn’t look good. It will give off a bad vibe, that feeling that you’re trying too hard because there won’t be congruence between your words and your attitude. You need to take small steps.

talk to women when ever you have a chance any age with out expectations. do it untill you are comfortable talking to them. when theres no one to talk to, read. read about seduction psycolagy body language and self improvement. watch videos on seduction, youtub is full of them. work on your self, get in shape get a hobby learn a martial art to build confadence.

What started me is when one of my brothers told me I was never going to get laid while sitting in the house, and women (like men) can't read minds.

Flirting doesn't work without confidence, and you may wind up never being good at it anyway if you're not fast on your feet. Canned lines can work, but they only take you so far.

Learn how to make small talk, and build on that skill by making small talk with several people each day. Learn how to give compliments and ask questions. And learn how to listen. Too many people are trying to form the next "clever" thing they're going to say instead of actively listening in order to pick up info that can help them.

If you're confident in what you're saying, sometimes you can get what you want by simply asking for it.
