You don’t need to provide a serious reason, you can just ask. It’s not a creepy thing to do, you’re in your own head. If it helps tho, typically after I’ve been chatting with someone for a bit I’ll say “I’d love to keep in touch, can I grab your Instagram?”

Propose something and ask for the Number/Instagram. A coffe, a walk, sport, cinema etc. and ask her gor the Number. You are not creepy because you are asking for a reason. The invite can be unspecified: you may Say we can take a coffe instead of we tomorrow go to Starbucks at 5 pm to take a coffe.

You only feel creepy when you are somehow convinced that desiring a girl or making it known to the girl that you desire her is inherently wrong and shameful and that as such you feel inclined to hide your desire and instead try to pretend that you are just talking to her for friendly reasons rather than for romantic or sexual reasons.

If someone finds you creepy for asking they're Instagram, chances are they don't like you. So ask anyway. It is a way for the two of you to realize what you two feel towards each other, interested or not interested.

Look for reasons to ask their phone number/instagram:

"You said you like climbing trees? Give me your number and we will find a day to climb the trees" or "Do you like vodka/watch movie/eat XYZ? Give me your number and we will find a day to drink vodka/watch a movie/eat XYZ".
