I’m a 26-year-old British guy on the autism spectrum. I sometimes find it hard to pick up on social cues, and I’ve noticed that many profiles I see on Hinge have very minimal information — sometimes just a couple of photos and a line of text.

That makes it tricky for me to start conversations or show genuine interest, because I don’t have much to go on. I’m wondering if anyone has strategies for opening a conversation or finding common ground when the profile is so bare.

In person, I’m better at connecting when there’s a clear topic to talk about. I’ve noticed that when I’m in the US or Australia, my accent makes starting a conversation easier, but here in the UK it’s a bit tougher.

What’s the best way to use Hinge in this situation? Are there prompts, questions, or approaches that work well even if the profile is minimal?
