Just ask a question

After that follow it up with "why" "How so?" "Tell me more" with some head nods

And just let them talk your ear off.

My advice is to just read more. And ask questions.

What your friend said was a no brainer though. Obviously people are going to be excited to talk about things they know more about and like than things they aren’t interested in. How was that a surprise to her?

You're supposed to talk about stuff you are interested in and know about. How I keep the convo going with girls is to talk about them, to talk about me and to talk about talking to them. E.g a. Do you work out? b. I love working out! c. What are the odds? two ripped people meeting. Do you have abs?....

Let her do all the work. Chicks love talking about themselves. Use why, how, and what when asking questions. Pay attention to what she is saying. Chime in when you have something to add to what she said.

I met a girl last weekend at a night club. We danced, made out and then went to sit at the bar and talked. Towards the end she said "I feel like I told you so much about myself but I still don't know much about you". She was curious. We are getting drinks this Saturday now.

Conversation's are all about ebb and flow. Listen and share.

Naturally when meeting someone new, you're going to share what you're most interested in as that's how people come to find common ground.

Also, generally I find when meeting new people it's best to just listen and absorb. You learn about both them, and their interests. Then if you find their interests....well...interesting...take it upon yourself to learn more about these things in your own time.

Then next time yall run in to one another or have a convo you can equally share on similar topics.

That's just my advice. I've always been more of a listener then one to talk.

Don't talk to a girl, talk WITH her. Actively listening is far more important than blabbing. If you are actually bothering to listen, you will find conversation to be easy, because you are doing only one thing in your head. A person who is listening and trying to develop the next thing to say is doing 2 things at once and its confusing, and often you will make her feel funny because you are blurting out nonsense trying to desperately avoid silence. Sometimes conversation has silent pauses, and its an opportunity not a bad thing. When a girl gets silent and looks right at you its a signal she's done talking and wants to move on to something better.

Here’s what I learned from having ADHD (I have a hard time following conversations to begin with, especially if there are more than 2 other people).

ask a question based on some keyword in the last sentence they said. I’ve been called a “very good listener” while having almost no investment in the topic.
Break up the conversation with humour. If you can get everyone laughing, you also have a good opportunity to steer the conversation into a better place.
Just interject with something random and change the goddamn topic. This only works if the conversation was low engagement to those involved anyway, and what you have to say is much more interesting or funny.

You can keep one going for eternity as long as u pay attention. That's what I learned while on ADHD meds.
