Hi, I have a simple question really and its something I'm kinda confused on and I feel awkward about. Being 18 when I meet adults, I shake their hands. After all thats the adult thing to do. But when I'm meeting people my age (18) and especially for females, it feels awkward to formal introduce yourself by shaking hands. Sometimes I shake hands and it feels completely normal, sometimes the girl or a mutual friend will make a joke on how formal it and it feels awkward. Other times I won't introduce by shaking hands and it feels normal, other times it feels awkward like I should have shook their hand when I met them. Its not that big of a thing but I'm not sure what the social norm is for highschoolers in the U.S when meeting people of similiar age :D
