I'm about to be a senior in High School. Been doing marching band since freshman year. Both in marching band and in concert band, posture is a necessity. I'm also doing drum corps this summer. All of these things have contributed significantly to my posture. I feel like my posture is pretty good and natural, but I feel like standing up straight with effort, separating my rib cage from my hips (which is what you do while you march) and having my shoulders down and back makes me seem like I'm trying way, way too hard. I feel like there's a natural way to develop this type of posture and make it seem natural, but I don't really know how. While standing up I maintain good posture. However, when I am on the computer my posture is terrible. Do these counterbalance and inhibit any improvement to my posture?
Is good posture an overnight thing? Or do I need to practice it 24/7 to make it look good?
