How to avoid "interview" style conversations?

"Why?" This question should be your best friend. I dont mean you should just blurt out "WHY!!!!" at random intervals but asking why moves the conversation along and creates a deeper relationship. Heres an example, "What are you studying" "Nursing" "I know so many people that are are studying to be nurses, why are you, whats so attractive about it, do you just like helping people?" example seems kinda stiff, but you get the idea.

dont ask questions. take guesses. much more fun.

You can't avoid these kind of questions easily. The best thing to do is ask about their hobbies and get into it.

Ask open questions, make observations and statements, that sort of thing, don't be too worried about "awkward silences" make it natural like you are speaking to a friend, once you have established some rapport. To keep people hooked, its good to flatter them on qualities they may possess, this works in business with contacts as well.

Assumption stacking.

You essentially make a series of assumptions about the girl. Although the assumptions aren't explicit questions, implicitly they are. You can either make the assumptions serious and realistic, or playful and unrealistic.

Examples:

You look like you study business. Its because you have a serious look on your face. Like you're just itching to wear a power suit to work when your older and act all important in the boardroom.

You look like a nurse, you have a caring face.

You look like trouble. I can just tell your the type to be dancing on the table at some bar come 2am tonight.

After you make an assumption just shut up and look at her like you're expecting a response. Listen carefully to her response. Everything she says gives you a potential hook to further conversation.

meh depends interview isnt always bad. Interview mode + polarity = win.

I usually try to run it sort of like a late-night talk show. Instead of just Q&A, I usually ask a really generic question and then quickly vamp on the answer and go down the rabbit hole. For example:

Q) What do you do for fun?

A) I like to take my dog for walks, and drink, and you know, the normal stuff.

Q) Do you have a really big dog? Is that why it's so fun?

A) Haha, uh, no?

Q) Then how big is it? I want specific dimensions.

A) Haha I don't know.

Q) You must really love your dog... (sarcastic, skeptical look) Have you ever taken him to that one dog park off of Elm Street?

etc. etc.
