I’ve been a pretty serious/stoic person my entire life and I’m trying to change that.

I started to talk to people more, get out of my comfort zone etc to work on myself.

Recently, I saw something which I’ve seen before but forgotten until now.

“Foot in the door trick”

Ask someone for something outrageous and after you got rejected, ask for something smaller. Chances are, they will say okay.

The example I saw was in a fanfiction. It just so happened to talk about asking girl to spend your life together then later saying “fine fine, how about just a single date then?”

I can see this being pulled off in a funny and jovial manner and it’s not even manipulation. just playful banter that leave both sides feeling bette afterwards.

thing is, unless I keep reminding myself, i will probably forget it after a while again.

so how does this work? I have a feeling that I have to keep reminding myself and consciously do this for a few times before it becomes part of my personality.
