Don't go to frat parties if you're not a brother?

From what I hear, frat parties aren't the only parties around. So either go to other places, or pledge one.

This is just how frat parties are. You either need to know a lot of people there or join the fraternity to really take advantage of them. There's plenty of better things to do at night than beg your way into a party where you probably won't even know anyone.

However, being in a frat and partying with them is one of the easiest ways to pick up girls I've ever seen. It's amazing social proof when literally every other guy in the room knows you and will vouch for you.

Wait, if you have the balls to convince a couple of girls to go with you, you're socializing enough that I'm wondering if the party is really worth it.

Why deliver those girls to other guys, rather than simply hanging out with said girls? You're going to all that trouble to open them and talk to them.....only to essentially bring them to other guys?
And as others have implied, why would you bother going to so much trouble to attend parties where you apparently don't know anyone?

As lame as it is this is how most frat parties work. I'd say either try to meet guys in frats and become friends, or just find other parties. Begging some guy to get into a party is never a good look.

I'd say don't go to frat parties. The guys in the frat hang out all the time and they want to have a good time together. Why would they let an outsider in who they don't know? It's bad form to go to a frat party when you're not in a frat because hey, why do you deserve to be drinking their alcohol and talking to their girlfriends?

However, don't join a fraternity thinking that's all they do. When you join a frat, you're committing everything to the group - your money, your friends, your time. With all that being said, i'd still recommend joining a frat.

Sorry for any typos, writing on my phone. Everyone else has stated plenty of good points. Also, as a former fraternity member and a student at a university that had the same party scene obligations, I would say you have 3 options.

1) Join a fraternity next semester - I'm assuming you are in your first semester, so you have some time to meet more guys at a good house and rush. The social proof that a good (read: well known) house carries makes meeting girls so much easier. It's up to you whether you feel like ye fraternity scene is for you.

2) Throw your own parties - plenty of people did this with great success at my school. If you can get a decent size apartment or off-campus house with social roommates, just skip the going out to fraternity parties altogether and continuously invite groups of girls to drink with you and your roommates. Everyone appreciates free booze, and girls may get tired of the same old fraternity scene, therefore favoring your smaller get togethers

3) Get a strong group of platonic gal friends to help you get in anywhere - before I joined a house, this was my preferred method of entry. I had made friends with several attractive girls and with their help and flirting, I got into any party I wanted. This actually helped meet plenty of more girls because I was immediately presented as someone fun and safe to be around. No creeping here. Plus it got me a bid later on because if there is anything appreciated at a fraternity house, it's the ability to bring cute girls to the party.

Whenever you go out, whether to a frat party or a club or whatever, you need to have a plan so that you can have fun with no bullshit. Don't go to a frat party unless you absolutely know a brother, have a way to get in, etc... Why sacrifice your night to the whims of what may or may not happen? Same with a club; there is nothing more retarded than dudes that get dressed up and go to a club and the doorman doesn't even let them in. Meet some promoters, meet some frat brothers, etc..., whatever you need, and always have a backup plan.

If you want to get into fraternity parties, pledge one. If you want to show up to fraternity parties and you're not a brother or a girl, expect it to be an uphill battle. The ONLY reason I would go to a fraternities party if I was a GDI was to either get to know the members so I could pledge, or steal shit.
