Be as physically attractive as possible, women can gain a couple points on the scale easily with nice clothes, make-up, etc... Go to places where dominant guys tend to hang out, like sports-bars or dance clubs.

You won't see as many dominant guys at Book stores, libraries, or coffee shops. It helps to be in an environment where randomly talking to someone is a common occurance.

Just be social, it sounds like you are dealing with the same shyness and insecurity issues a lot of guys on seddit have, and its basically the same solution, talk to everyone, be as friendly as possible and you will make friends and have many more options for men in your life.

Be hot. Then more guys will hit on you, which it should then be obvious if they are dominate or not.

You can find alpha males anywhere, but I'm guessing most of your friends, coworkers, and classmates are pretty nerdy (AKA insecure).

Venture out of your social circle. Just because a girl at a bar is hotter than you doesn't mean you aren't going to talk to some alpha males. You probably haven't been social enough (or just haven't done it enough). Go out to a bar, don't be afraid to separate from your friends, and go dance on the dance floor. If I'm there, there's a pretty good chance I'll be dancing with you at some point- unless I don't find you attractive.

There's also nothing wrong with approaching guys- assuming you're somewhat attractive and not too weird, that's the easiest way to weed out the betas. You don't have to go in with the mindset that you might sleep with them or anything, just be friendly/flirty and see where it goes. You can do that anywhere.

Just remember, alpha guys WILL approach you, so just getting out more will increase your chances.

Alphas ought to be scoping you. I would suggest a change of scenery. Try finding more active hobbies/places to go to such as the gym, hotrod clubs, rock climbing (indoor or out), martial arts class, even hash group if your feeling crazy.

It sounds like the type of guys you're looking for are out there running in a ninja fight-to-the-death footrace to the top of a volcano...get out there and do it with 'em.

Where are you meeting guys? What exactly are you having trouble picking up on? It seems to me that I can figure out whether or not another guy is dominant or passive within a few minutes of meeting him. It usually comes across in how he carries the conversation, his passions, his hobbies, etc. I'd like to see some women contribute to this.
