It was amazing. I didn't know I had it in me. I just went right up to a bunch of different girls and just started chatting them up. I was relaxed and confident. My friend that was with me even commented how impressed she was. She didn't even need to apply her wingwoman services.
I didn't get any numbers, but I wasn't disappointed at all because I realized something: none of them were good enough for me. I don't mean for that to sound arrogant. It's just that as I talked to them, I just wasn't crazy about their personalities and had no desire to escalate. Should I have tried to get numbers just to do it? I feel like it would've been too forced because I just wasn't into any of them.
Anyway, to the "complication." So, the night was about to end. I was walking with my friend to our cars and suddenly a wild ex appears. She was one that I fell really hard for and took a long time to get over. Since I was well-dressed, feeling confident, and with my friend (who is quite attractive, I might add), I asked if she would mind accompanying me to just say hello. Being a great friend, she had no problem with that.
Went over and said hello. Ex looked very surprised to see me. Immediately complimented my friend's dress. I introduced them to each other and said she looked really nice. She returned the compliment and asked what I've been up to. I told her that my job is going really well, I'm traveling a ton, and I'm learning to play the piano. Made sure to drop that last one because she plays of bunch of instruments. She looked surprised and, dare I say, a little impressed. It could have been my imagination.
Then we do the whole "well, it was nice seeing you" thing and part ways. I walked off with my friend expecting to feel like "Yeah, see what you're missing?" But instead, I felt very weird, a little pathetic for going out of my way to try and show off and like my feelings for her resurfaced a bit.
So...there you have it. All in all, I'm still very proud of myself for talking to all those girls. But it was such a rush, it's difficult to process everything that happened. Sort of like I took two steps forward and maybe one step back. I'd appreciate it if anyone can provide insight as to why I may have felt the way I did and how to move on.
TL;DR Extremely proud of myself for realizing I have it in me to go up to complete strangers and be cool and confident. Also, ran into an ex and didn't feel too good about the interaction. Would really appreciate some insight.
