I have known this girl since high school and we ended up going to the same college. We were pretty good friends in highschool and I had crushed on her for a little while but never really did anything about it. For the first two years of college I pretty much ignored her whenever I saw her because she was in a LDR with a douchebag.

Now last summer she breaks up with d-bag and starts wanting to hang out with me again. First mistake. I wasn't planning to start liking her again but by mid-fall I was back to crushing again. I spent my time like an AFC until I found seddit a month or two ago. I tried to up the physcal contact and be more sexual but it was pointless. The breakup left her with some self-image and intimacy issues. A month or so ago we clearly laid it out that she did not want to be anything more than friends with me and I told myself that was the end and I would move on.

So I have been going out more to meet other people but I keep thinking about her. If I drink I end up texting her. We have overlapping friend circles so I can't really cut her off completely. She is fun to be around and I love too much about her. So how else can I stop myself from putting her on this pedestal?
