One thing I always thought was nice, was going to one of those places where you drink and paint together. Might help to have a little rapport with whoever you're going with before though instead of a total stranger, but that's just my opinion!

Drinks. Always drinks for a first date. At a very cool, trendy bar. And that bar should be walking distance to other bars in case you hit it off and want to bounce around.
