I'll try and keep it as short as possible.

I recently came back from a study abroad experience during which I had the best time of my life (and I highly recommend it for many reasons). Anyway, I met a girl there and we have been good friends ever since. We have never done anything together either. Never have a problem talking to her at all. I don't usually have any confidence issues whatsoever and making conversation is not a problem.

I saw her this weekend with a few friends from the study abroad program. The last night there, she and I talked for nearly 5 hours one-on-one into the wee hours of the morning. After finally falling asleep for a few hours, we woke up and I knew at this time I wanted to tell her that I liked her. Now this is where it gets interesting.

My previous confidence abilities all but went out the door. It took me forever to tell her, but I finally did and she really didn't know what to say. There was an awww, but nothing else really. She told me that she had really liked me at the beginning of our study abroad program, but along the way she was still trying to work things out with her boyfriend. That eventually ended altogether about a month ago. She definitely had what I said on her mind, as on our way home she texted a friend of mine about it.

I was wondering if anyone here would suggest calling her and apologizing for essentially putting her on the spot when I told her I liked her. Yup, it was not an elegant way to do it at all, but I really don't want it to end here. Just not sure if I fucked up or not.

EDIT: I am an idiot. A freaking idiot.

EDIT2: Hold the fucking phone, all is not lost! She texted me that I should come visit again soon!
