First, I'd like to say that I agree with most of the posts on Seddit regarding texting. By that I mean that I typically adhere to the principle of using texting to set up dates and occasionally crack a joke or two, nothing more. I believe that texting is very low on the communication food chain.
That said, I think the past month yielded an interesting result.
Background
Back in early December I was out with some friends and introduced myself to a HB7.5 in a group of girls we met up with. She was Canadian, blonde, a little drunk, and quiet. We talked a bit, she told me she was having a bad day because of some ex-bf issues. Don't be the shoulder to cry on. Be fun. I told her I understand how that goes, changed the subject, pulled her to the dance floor, and told her not to let a bad day ruin a good night.
She was receptive to kino, but at the end of the night it wasn't right for a k-close. With her snuggled up to me in the taxi on the way home, I grabbed her phone, put my number in, and called myself.
The next day I texted her, we joked/flirted back and forth a bit, and I asked her out for coffee. She said no, claiming she was still "messed up" about her ex. Apparently she dated this guy for 5 years and then got dumped. I figured she was either letting me down easy, or she was being honest. No big deal. Abundance mentality, move on. She was headed back to Canada for holiday break anyways.
I didn't text her for three weeks, then I spontaneously sent some playful stuff about Christmas presents and whatnot. We had a short, playful conversation.
Then, a few days later on New Years Eve, she texted me. I was out with my friends and only replied when I felt like it. Conversation was light and flirty once again, with me teasing her about not getting a New Year's kiss, etc.
Fast forward a week and we were having a text conversation about hockey. I know nothing about the sport. Somehow she mentioned that she's a pretty good cook. After some playful teasing about how I'm a better cook, I said, "How about you cook me dinner on the night of the season opener? You can teach me everything you know about hockey."
In return she asked what she would get out of it. I said, "A chance to seduce me, obviously." This took some balls on my part, but I had no fear since she already rejected me once. She agreed to the date.
The Date
Fast forward another week. The morning of the date, a mutual friend told me that she basically interrogated him about me. Interesting. I headed to her place for dinner later. We cooked, drank wine, and watched Mighty Ducks since the NHL got pushed back from the original schedule. During the cooking I DHV by showing her little cooking tricks and some good knife skills. Conversation was natural and all over the board.
We made out on her couch, and I ended up taking her to her bedroom, but I could tell she wasn't quite comfortable with something, so after a little while I told her I needed to head out.
The next day, the same mutual friend texted me to tell me that she poked her head into his office and the first thing she said was "IAMTHEDEATHMACHINE is fantastic!" I'm gonna set something up for this weekend.
The Kicker
She confessed over dinner that when I first put my number in her phone a month ago, she didn't realize I had called myself, and she wasn't sure how she felt about me having her number at the time.
In Conclusion
Apparently, I built enough attraction via text messages alone that a girl who once shot me down for coffee agreed to cook me dinner a month later. Experienced guys especially, what are your thoughts on this? I have had no face-to-face interaction with her other than the night we met and yesterday's date. I'm honestly kind of baffled. Thoughts?
Edits/Addendum
I chose not to push the sexual escalation. I'm no bitch when it comes to defeating LMR, but I chose not to pursue physicality. It was a first date, alone with her in her house. She was obviously comfortable with me, but I could tell she was still a little guarded.
Also, formatting.
