First win of the day

Walked past a girl sitting alone. Hesitated for a moment, then walked up and opened directly. She entertained the conversation but told me she had a boyfriend when I tried to close. I was nervous during the interaction as it was my first approach.

In class on the grass

Spotted a girl sitting with her laptop on the grass. Walked up to the side and opened directly. She informed me that she was in class, so I ejected, slightly embarrassed. Hope her camera and mic were muted.

Motivational cards

A group of girls came by and gave my friends and I some cards with motivational messages as part of a class. I took my card and used it to open a girl who was sitting on a bench and eating hummus. I opened indirectly by telling her about how I received this card and wanted to pass it along to her. Conversed for a bit and then went for a close. She said “maybe” but gave me her number. Definitely a flake. The interaction rather awkward because of the contrived nature of the opener, and my lack of a statement of intent, although it was implied that I was hitting on her once I tried to close.

Another card

Tried to convince my friend to do the same kind of indirect approach using his card, but he was too pussy. I took his card instead and used it to open another girl sitting on a bench. Opened directly this time and then transitioned into giving her the card for fun. She was very receptive to my direct opener, and also asked me to remind her of my name in the middle of the conversation, which I saw as an IOI. Number close.

Red is dead

Saw a girl in a bright red outfit walking towards me from the right while I was walking straight. I debated for a second, and then turned to walk towards her. Opened directly. Turns out I had approached her some time previously and she was on the way to class so she didn’t even stop or remind me of her name. Tough.

Direct rejection

Saw a girl in a cute outfit on a bench, opened semi-directly by complimenting her style. After some brief conversation about her area of study, tried to close but she rejected me bluntly by telling me she wasn’t interested. I was pretty surprised because I usually don’t anticipate a girl to be direct and honest. Either they will lie about having a boyfriend, or will give a number and never respond. Appreciated the honesty.

Talking stage

Direct open on a girl sitting on the grass. I thought she was meditating, but she was just studying for class. When I tried to close, she hesitated and said she was in the “talking stage” with another guy. Unlucky.

Negative pre-selection

Saw a girl in a bright pink dress studying outside the library in the sun. Opened directly, and once she turned to face me I realized I had made a mistake. She had a very bitchy demeanor, and reminded me that I had approached her friend at the bar a while back. Although her friend was showing signs of a interest and I even managed to number close, this girl was being a bitchy mother hen the whole time. Ejected rapidly.

Tan beauty

Beautiful tan blonde girl with hazel eyes sitting alone on a bench. Approached her directly and she was quite receptive, and a bit nervous in a good way. But when I tried to close, she told me she had a boyfriend. I’m not sure how I feel about girls who wait until I try to close before telling me about their relationship status. It seems like a 50-50 split with some rejecting me right on the direct open. At the same time, it’s good experience to work on verbal game with these girls where there are no stakes.

A red flower

Spotted this beautiful girl in a tight white dress and a red cardigan wrapped around her shoulders. Opened her directly with confident vocal tonality. Good vibe in the conversation. Forgot what the conversation topic was but it led to me throwing in a tease about me not being able to handle her, to which she amplified saying “oh definitely not.” Not sure if that establishes a good frame but it was definitely intentful. False time constraint, asked her out for drinks and she responds “maybe.” Ignored that and still got her to put her number in my phone.

Matching outfits

Went up to a girl who was studying at a table. Tried the HonestSignalz opener - “hey, girl in the all black.” Mentioned how we were matching colors, and that defused the initial tension a bit and made her comfortable. Chatted for a bit but realized she was a bit too young for me so I ejected the set without closing.

Phone calls

Girl walking towards me on the phone. I wanted to challenge myself so I got her attention and asked if she was on an important phone call. She said yes, and then I verbally vomited my direct opener. She thanked me but continued to walk away. Challenging situation. Should have slowed down my speech and got her to stop first. Then, it would be helpful to use a longer opener that gives her context instead of going straight to the “hey you’re cute I want to talk to you.”
