One of my greatest takeaways from this year was paying more attention to myself and improving the impressions I make on people. Grooming starts at the surface of it, and makes sure you are not giving away wrong non-verbal signals. Both men and women like interacting with clean people, and whether they know it or not, base a lot of their first impression on non-verbal signs. I am a man, and this is my routine. It does not have to be the only way to do it. Find your own habits and routines. You may have special needs that are not the same as mine... If you are someone that gets grossed out by manscaping, ignore this post.

Daily stuff:

Wash face in the morning. moisturize

Exfoliate face at night. moisturizer

Drink water. Enough to keep you peeing every 2 hours

Brush twice a day - before sleeping and after breakfast

Clean tongue while brushing, especially the back (where you gag). Can be done with a tongue cleaner or even a toothbrush

If you have bad breath, washing the tongue is all the more important.

Eating onions, garlic worsens breath for the whole day. In case you have a date coming up, absolutely avoid eating these foods.

Massage gums after brushing. can be done with brush, or fingers

Floss before sleeping. Gums might bleed initially if you are not used to it

If you use mints, use sugar-free ones. Sugar dehydrates and eventually makes the breath bad. sugar also causes decay if left on the teeth

Exfoliate body (read scrub hard). Moisturize

Deodorant in your armpits, before you step out of the house. Especially important when you do sports. Pick the ones that are safe for the skin

Spray cologne while you are still moist after a shower. Do not spray on too much. Less is better than more. Spray on areas of the body that throb - neck, wrists, elbows, etc.

Powder balls and ass. Makes your undies last longer with lesser sweat and bacteria. Also doesn't stink up the room when you undress for sexy time. Doesn't leave sweat marks on chairs when you get up. Why isn't everybody doing this?

Clean your ears every other day

Weekly stuff:

Cut fingernails

Trim stubble. shape beard. NO NECK BEARD

Shave the back of the neck too

After shave lotion (optional) and/or moisturizer after shaving

Exfoliate feet. Moisturize

Remove blackheads. Disgusting gunk gets into your pores in the course of the week.

Rotate deos and colognes to prevent boredom/predictability

Fortnightly stuff:

Shave pubes - makes your dick look bigger than it is. less sweat, less bacteria, less odour

Shave ass hair - less sweat, less bacteria, less odour, more win

Shave legs - vanity for cyclists. makes muscles look better

Shave upper back - the hair people can see

Shave chest - the hair people can see. Nobody likes to see it after a certain length

Shave armpit hair. The source of most stink comes from here. While sweat and hair are not gross by themselves, when combined, it's a lethal combination

Cut toenails - more frequently in the summer or if you wear sandals, floaters, flip flops

Trim nose hair. If you can't find a trimmer, buy a pair of scissors

Trim ear hair. Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it's not there for people to see when they're in your face talking to you. Once seen, nose and ear hair cannot be unseen.

Trim head hair. Get a trimmer if you don't already have one. These are one-time investments and can save you time and money you spend on going to the barber. They may be expensive, but are totally worth the money.

General

Lose flab, build muscle, buy and wear clean, well-fitting clothes

Clean clothes includes socks and undies

Wash shoes often. That disgusting odour gets on to your socks, whether you actually sweat or not

If you cannot wash shoes, buy shoe spray

Protect your eyes when you go out - from the sun and dust - especially if you are doing outdoor sports

Moisturizing and hydration cannot be stressed enough. Dehydration exists inside and outside the body and is your enemy. Bill Burr has a bit about lotion and why it should be common knowledge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFuakJS5akI

How you look and smell determines your (first or second or any) impression more than you know. These are non-verbal signals that go a long way in telling someone if they will like you or not. Good grooming helps confidence "outside in". Get with the programme! Don't say you didn't get the memo.

Good luck and cheers!
