In a nutshell, the point of teasing is to demonstrate that you're not trying to impress her. You should not be showing hostility, just friendly indifference.

The idea is that you're confident in yourself and already having a good time, and you don't really care if she's around or not. But since she is, you're going to try and make the most of it by joking and entertaining yourself, possibly at her expense but not in a mean spirited way.

Right: Man, what is with that shirt you're wearing? I'm pretty sure human eyes were never meant to deal with that color.

Wrong: That shirt is really ugly. You wear stupid clothes.

The first is playful, and gives her room to answer back without being offended. The second is just an attack on her, and it gives her nowhere to go but away from you.

Also, what you say is not nearly as important as how you say it. Smile, make eye contact, show with your face and body language that you're not actually attacking her.

I can help. I had this problem for a while. I would be out, talking to random sets thinking everything was great, I would be feeling good, smiling, teasing, and the next thing I know the girls are calling me an asshole and genuinely meaning it. Like "WOW! you. Are. An. Asshole. Holy shit. Come on Sam we are so leaving!" :)

Too much cocky funny humor and or negs. Focus more on building rapport and relating to them. Open them, toss a little bit of cocky funny teasing out there to get their attention, than be really cool with them and relate to them. You want to be nodding your head and getting where they are coming from. You'll feel that after a bit of this the tension will die down but they will be more comfortable with you. Rinse and repeat. Now you can toss out a little more cocky humor to surprise them again but before you push them over their edge go back to building rapport, trust, and comfort. This is for nice girls.

For the real Paris Hilton wanna be's, which you can identify by their nose being held vertical in the air, neg the shit out of them and give them cocky attitude until they are seeking your approval like a mid behaved chiwuawa that you just had to spray with a water bottle after mis behaving.

Most of all learn how to read on the spot so you can adjust your game. You want to be congruent. I have more fun with the Paris Hilton types since you can dealt dish it out since they will take more of it. The nicer girls tend to be easier to impress but are a valid stepping stone. If you want to impress Paris Hilton you have to learn how to impress all of the girls next door of the world first.

I had (and sometimes still do) need to recalibrate often not to be a douche. Changing my mind-set from tactical (negs, kino, etc.) to strategic (bring value) often helps.

Most likely shit tests, ESPECIALLY if they knew you before your transformation. Plow through them as if they love you. Agree and amplify.
