Hey guys. I'm 21, currently on co-op living in a tiny town in north Jersey filled with blue collar workers and soccer moms. As there are basically no women my age who go to bars (And I don't really drink, though I love talking to people I meet in bars. They're usually pretty welcoming and tell great stories), I basically have to learn everything through daygame. I've only been subbed here for maybe three weeks, but I've been able to go through the awkward early phases to the point where I can approach someone on the street and talk to them.

However, I have an issue. I'm already totally loving how much confidence I've gained, but I'm looking for what to do next. I don't really care about getting a girlfriend, or even getting laid, honestly. I just want to know that I can be completely open to anyone I meet.

To provide some direction to anyone attempting to answer, I'm mostly wondering how you really get someone to open up to you. Up here, people I walk up to usually seem freaked out that someone is talking to them, even with pretty basic openers.

For example, last night it was snowing pretty hard, so I walked up to a couple of girls at the bus stop who were bundled up and said, "Wonderful weather we're having tonight. Wouldn't you agree?" They stared at me like I had just threatened them with a gun and said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Now, a month ago I would have probably stood there awkwardly, mumbled some excuse, and left, but I was in no fucks given mode, so I made a joke about how their mouths must be frozen shut and introduced myself. After trying to get some small talk going, I eventually deemed it a lost cause and walked off whistling.

I assume I'm doing something wrong, but at the same time, I'll hit a party, and it's so fucking easy. Party game is a joke after only being able to do daygame. So I'm no longer worried about parties or clubs (Never been to one, but I assume it's basically the same as a party). I'm more worried about how to make myself more approachable and how I can break down those barriers that people put up in their daily routine.
