Wear a conversation starter like a necklace or scarf that doesn't match but is bright color whatever. Have a story prepared when asked. You won it at a fall festival or person that matters gave it to you. You found it while backpacking across Europe and it reminds you of simpler times.

Edit: practice wearing the peacock piece, don't physically draw attention or bring it up, and when it is brought up in conversation, only give it maybe 1-2 responses then move on to something else
